New 2013 Camaro 2SS - What performance mods to get right off the bat?
So I will be picking up a 2013 Camaro 2SS early next month and it will be an automatic. I want to see what mods people are recommending to get right off the bat for a nice performance gain. Headers, cat back, etc.... I also would like to know in the Camaro world what parts give you the best gains and which part brands are best.

Cold Air Inductions for your cold air intake
http://www.coldairinductions.com/sto...old-air-intake Get Long tube headers, there are many of them with a wide price range Get a Remote Tune from Jannetty Racing http://jreperformanceparts.com/sct-x...10-camaro.html Exhaust is pretty much for the sound, although it does shed some weight from the stock exhaust That is all for power mods before you get crazy, but I think the ss needs suspension mods to make it handle better. Top two mods for suspension are drop springs and front & rear sway bars ....all of these things are on my to do list

A nice set of long tube headers will give you a real nice performance gain and should be on every ones shopping list. Long tube headers and a custom tune can net 40rwhp. Your factory exhaust isn't very restrictive so you won't gain much power but it is very tame. We always recommend the exhaust swap for the sound alone as a first mod. We have plenty of options to fit just about any budget. An intake is always a safe buy to pick up some east power as well. Give us a call and we can recommend some brand names, we can find nice parts for any budget!

the best mod i would say for the v8 camaro is headers. headers give the sound and performance we all like. most known brand headers will do the trick. like KOOKS, ARH, LG, SW etc.. then you should look into the popular exhaust setups. like borla, magnaflow, corsa, flowmasters etc
you overall want long tube headers, a intake, and cat back or axle back for the sound. and a nice tune. |

Don't headers void the warranty? If so, OP I would highly suggest you don't void your warranty on a new car.

Why would you advise him to get something that is 8k when he can do all of the basic bolt ons for under 2k....If the basics aren't fast enough then go on to the big things

Everybody hates on the K&N CAI but I got mine Friday, cheap from phastek $300 including tax free shipping, AND I FREAKING LOVE IT, some claim it only adds 1 horsepower, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY, I can literally hear and feel the difference and if it was only adding 1 horsepower, I wouldnt hear it or feel it. Just my opinion though
Other things you could look into depending on the budget, Borla/Flowmaster cat backs

I wouldnt suggest taking it straight to SLP or Hennessey though... for starts they charge an ass load and I think its smart to figure out what kind of power range you are wanting before going to the big boys and burning through the pocket book....

1) catch can
After that it just depends on how you intend to use the car and, honestly, how much money you have to spend.

You have to figure you price cap then what mods you do will be dictated from that.

If you are looking for simple, a Cold Air Induction will be a good start. You will see up to a 15 RWHP increase. If you are on a budget them i would recommend a Handheld Programmer that supports the Automatic transmission as well. This could be a while since the Manufactures like Diablo and SCT haven't updated for the new 2013 models. You can chose to get a blank programmer like SCT 3400 and have a custom tune written for your Camaro. The automatic cars really respond well to the transmission tune. The tune can be removed if you need to take the car in for warranty work. Like Juiced said the exhaust will not improve your performance, but it will get rid of the metal trash can look of the factory mufflers hanging down and allow the Camaro to sound like it has some Muscle. Long tube headers are always a great add on,there are a lot of brands out there. The popular size are the 1 7/8. You will want to go with a 304 Stainless Steel set. You will find that the price ranges will vary from around $850 to $1430 with Catalytic Converters. You will have to get a custom tune to disable the CEL( Check Engine Light) which will be turned on due to the elimination of the factory catalytic converters. This can void your factory engine/transmission warranty depending on what dealer you take your Camaro to for warranty work. But this will get you both a great sound and better performance. Automatic cars usually see about 32-40 RWHP gain with a cold air induction, headers and tune. If you want to bolt on some GOOD power them a Whipple Supercharger is a good way to bump the power. With this bolt on you will see around 470-480 RWHP about 136 RWHP increase. A Whipple out of the box will come with everything you need to bolt it on and go. If you add headers to the Whipple then you will need a custom tune. Hope this helps.
