Tim, GoPro has it's own editing software on it's website and it's free to download. here's the link http://gopro.com/3d-cineform-studio-software-download/

The speed has more to do with your computer's specs than it does the program.

Depending on what I want to do to the video, I use different programs.

I use MPEG Streamclip if I just want to crop the video.

So far I only use GoPro's CineForm software for the "Video to Timelapse" feature

I use Sony Vegas Pro for the complex editing, like Picture-In-Picture or split screen video when I have multiple video sources.

And usually I'll do all of the editing in those programs to make video clips that I'll then throw in Windows Live Movie Maker to add text captions, insert pictures, and throw in a soundtrack.

you shouldn't lose the sound in any video editing software.

Depends on what you're doing. For instance, when I run it through the "Video to Timelapse" feature, it removes everything but the n-th frame, so the audio wouldn't make much sense at that point.

Also, are you sure you have all the correct codecs installed on your computer?

I don't have any video here at work with me to test on, but when I get home after 5 I will see if I can help you troubleshoot.

Don't know if this will be much help, but I just edited a video yesterday using Cineform and it's not that user intuitive. The instructional video's on their website are ok for just getting familiar with the software, but they don't get into too much detail about editing the software unless you're doing 3d stuff.

The video I edited did have sound to it. Is it being converted to .mp4 format?
