System ideas
Sorry but i'm having a really hard time understanding all of this stuff involving subs/amps. With all the Ohm's and single/dual voice coil and RMS/MAX and all that... just not quite understanding it.
With that in mind, do you think this would be a good system or do you have any other recommendations? Please, any feedback is welcomed. Two 12" Pioneer "Champion" series: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-TS-W30...579276&sr=1-18 Amp: can't decide and don't know what i'm doing honestly (haha!) http://www.amazon.com/Hifonics-Hfi20...580121&sr=1-12 http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Kac-91...580121&sr=1-11 Subthump dual 12" box (should i go with front firing or trunk firing?) Replacement for Factory Amp: http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Kac-84...5580351&sr=1-4 or http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-GM-650...580601&sr=1-47 Thank you in advance for your help/feedback |

I'm no expert but i'm pretty sure you should stay away from all those amps. Not sure about the subwoofers though, but they wouldn't be my first choice. Here are two links that will give you some information. Also what kind of budget are you working with? I suggest you first start doing some research especially if you plan on hooking it up yourself.

Not gonna hook it up myself that's for sure. Any suggestions on amps then? The reviews on those were great...
Budget? Idk like 750 or so |

The kenwood amp for the subs isn't bad. I'm not sure on the one to replace the stock amp because I didn't get the BA system in my car. If you went with the kenwood amp, it will put out 500rms@4ohms or 900rms@2ohms. Divide the numbers by two since you are using 2 subwoofer. I would look at subs that can handle around 400-500 watts rms and that can be wired at a 2ohm load. or 250rms each wired at a 4ohm load
These kicker subs are pretty popular: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...SearchClickout[query_id]=11879182&SearchClickout[Ignore]=1 I personally went with 2 re audio sex12 subwoofers and a hifonics brutus amp and I love how it sounds. I researched for about a month to learn all I could before I decided. Using this tool may be helpful for you as well.. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/Matching-Subwoofers-Amps I would go talk to the place your going to get it installed and see what equipment they use and what they recommend and then go from there and also how much they charge for installation. Hopefully someone that has the BA system will chime in what they have done |

In my Ram truck I have those subs in 10" running off a Hifonics 1500D amp. The amp holds up great in the AZ heat, and the subs pound, but the subs are very picky as far as enclosure size. My kid noticed my wipers were bouncing off the windshield while bumping Gorilla Zoe.
Unless you really want to piss off your neighbors, I think 2 good 10's would be more than enough. The PO of my Camaro has 1 ten in there and it sounds pretty good, I would like to add 1 more. My Bostons are running off aftermarket HU. Since you are not gonna be the installer, I would find a good one, and work with them. Good luck.

If I am reading some of that information correctly, two DVC 4Ohm subs can be wired and utilize a 1 ohm load from the amp so it doesn't have to be some super expensive amp, even a lower end JL amp can pump out 400RMSx2 @1 ohm... am I getting this at all?

Yes what you said is correct, that's the same amp I have and I haven't had any issues with it. You will find people have mixed opinions about running at 1ohm, some say the quailty is worse the lower you go but other people say there's no difference. How many watts do you want to run? Are you looking for a huge upgrade over stock? Just a little extra bass?

I want a good amount of bass, so I'm thinking if i run the amp even at 2Ohms it will be 450 RMS to each sub which is rated at 400 RMS so 800-900 RMS added should be pretty good right?
Good to know that's the same amp you have and you like it. All the reviews on both Amazon and that other electronics website are very positive of it so i'm confident it will be great. |

Yeah that should give you enough bass. If you go to an audio shop they should be able to let you hear a few different setups that will help you gauge how much power you want

With the two pioneer subs, the brutus amp, subthump dual rear firing box and T-harness total is a little over 500 in parts. I'm really happy with that price i think...
Still have the question though, would everyone recommend front firing or rear firing and what do you feel is the difference? |

I don't think it matters, most things i have read say that rear facing is louder but most people wont notice a difference. Have you put any thought into sound deadening?

No, none. Should I, like is that enough watts that it's necessary? Also, I don't really get the whole concept because why would you want tO muffle something you just spent a bunch to make loud

I had some Hifonics amps before and they were great for the cost. If you can afford it, go with some JL or Memphis amps, but if you are on a budget, these Hifonics weren't bad at all.

Myself and friends have always had bad experiences with Memphis. They are so cheaply made.
JL is good, wouldn't mind if it was worth the difference. |

using sound deadening helps eliminate the vibration of the panels, there is many threads on the different kinds if you do a search. It gets ride of the "tinny" like sound when your trunk vibrates. I also used some weather stripping on the trunk lid by the rear window because I was getting a lot of vibrations from that. It can also be used to eliminate some road noise or exhaust drone.

I love my exhaust tone from the MRTv1.0. That noise that people call drone i've always known to be what exhaust sounds like, i also don't understand the complaints over that.
If panels are rattling because of the system that's something i for sure will be doing then though. I'll see how the system sounds and if theres any rattling i'll look into the deadening i think... I'm going to order the parts today i believe. |

Depends on the Memphis model. I've been a Memphis dealer for 6 years now and had great luck with their stuff. I'd put their M5/Mojo subs and Mclass amps up against anything.
