Actually, I think the New 1LE is going to be the much better deal over the MSRP of the 5th Gen ZL1....Seems like a much more reasonably priced Camaro with some very good performance numbers compared to price.... Folks keep complaining that the ZL1 "isn't a Drag car" but they keep on modding it for the 1/4 mile run and running it at the drag strip and are adding countless amounts of money just to get into the High 11s....It appears the 1LE is a much better bang for your buck...

Whatever happened to the forum member The Pill. He used to make these monthly threads entertaining. Not necessarily more informed or intelligent. But more fun to read, at least.

The thread is honestly pointless without him, he needs to come back and post now I mean the past 4 months should give him plenty to talk about.

I actually disagree with the both of you on the Challenger, the Dodge doesn't really compete with the Camaro and Mustang head to head. Also if they are ok with the lower sales volume then there isn't much that has to be done about that as well.

In fact as far as price goes around me you can always get a Challenger for $6,000 off MSRP (though I know this may not be the case everywhere).

Though I would say that the issue with the Challenger has less to do with its execution and price and more to do with what it is. Compared to the Camaro and Mustang the Challenger is a large car, the front has more room then the other two. The back seat is actually practical (can seat adults) and has room for 3 in the back making it a 5 seater.

The Dodge Challenger is the closest to a muscle car that you can buy today. It is a very large car, and with a $6,000 discount on the R/T Challenger I can buy a brand new R/T for $25,000. This makes it a great deal cheaper then the Camaro SS and a bit cheaper then the Mustang GT (when you take incentives into account).

This really brings into question how big of a market is there for a pure muscle car, and while I don't doubt that there is a market for it it is a small one.

As far as the 5.7L Hemi goes, in the Challenger it only produces 370BHP while in the Ram trucks it produces 390BHP (and that is with a truck tune). I have no doubt in my mind that Dodge can get the 5.7L Hemi up to 425BHP for the Challenger and mate it to the 8 speed automatic. This will improve both its performance and fuel economy, though I honestly think that while its a better product for its customer base it won't increase its sales.

I honestly believe that this is why the Challenger is going away, and is slated to be replaced with a Cuda which will be more in line with the Camaro/Mustang.

For now they rule. I'm not so sure we'll not see the history of the 70's repeat itself.

I would love to see when Ford's fleet sales occur since there seems to be a bump in their sales every summer and then they drop down below Camaro again for the rest of the year. I've heard they play around with their reported sales numbers and that it has something to do with fleet sales.

1: Why did the production drop off so significantly on the Camaro in May 2012? Retooling for 2013 perhaps...

2: I might get flamed for saying this, but I'd be curious to know how the Hyundai Genesis V6 Coupe stacks up with Mustang/Camaro. Can't do much against 1LE and ZL1, but I've found myself cross-shopping the Genesis to an LT model Camaro on a number of occassions primarily based on cost/performance/sporty-coupe. Does anyone else agree?

I would agree...not all car buyers are die-hard Camaro or nothing else...

From the reviews that I have read the Genesis coupe has better driving dynamics then the V-6 Camaro.

I think the Genesis Coupe is kind of ugly (and many seem to agree) however its a decent drivers car. The improvements to the Hyundai for the 2013 model year are good ones (except the front end) and includes a 348BHP V-6 engine. The Genesis Coupe V-6 should be able to get from 0-60 in near 5 seconds flat which isn't that far off of a Camaro SS and a good deal better then the V-6 Camaro.

Its not a bad choice to make over a V-6 Camaro, though it comes down to what your priorities sit.
