2012 2SS vs 2009 C63
I really can't decide.
I have a 2012 2ss that I will lose no money on trade. C63 is an amazing machine, if you haven't driven one you might not understand. 200 bucks more a month though vs Camaro. SS has 19k and C63 has 40k miles. what would you do if the 200 a month didn't bother you? if it makes sense to spend it I will but that's what I can't decide. is the car worth it!? of course I could always drive the camaro a couple more years and pick up a 2012 E63 then....that would be wicked. |

Not a fan of AMG Merc's in general but there is no comparison between a c63 and an SS. I would opt for the E63 though.

Dont forget the cost of maint. on the AMG on top of the extra 200 a month. Keep the camaro imo.

They're two completely different cars. One is a German sports coupe, and the other is, for lack of better description, an American Muscle Car. Both have V8's, yes, both are rear-drive, yes, and both have 2 doors, but that's about all they share in common. The driving experiences are totally different.
The maintenance schedules and costs are absolutely different. Unless you can do all mechanical work and maintenance yourself, you may want to think beyond just the difference in monthly payment. You're probably looking at a 10+qt oil change, a hard-to-find filter, and tires more expensive than P-Zero's. The C63 is a fantastic car for sure. If money or maintenance or anything else isn't an issue...go with what your heart says. |

Well shit. I must be imagining a different car entirely.
Just looked it up. My folks have an '09 C350...looks to share the same platform and everything else, except that it's been gussied up by AMG, V8, etc, right? Nutty parts pricing and maintenance schedules still apply. The sedan aspect is a deal-breaker for me. I'd do a coupe, but not a sedan. That's just personal preference, of course. |

Mercedes = high repair cost. Personally know 2 people with horror stories. Brakes, AWD Trans repair 5 thousands dollars out of warranty. Automatic trunk close function broke 500 bucks.

I have an e55 AMG and a 2010 SS. Stock for stock my AMG wins the race.... And the interior and ride comfort blows the camaro away..... Of course, it also cost WAY more to maintain. My SS has a little (a lot) of modification on it now so I pretty much obliterate anything that tries to run me. You have to decide between a fast car, or a fast classy car I guess. IMO

I should add there is a Merc dealer in the family so all maintenance and repair will be done at employee cost. Also this is a certified preowned car w/warrany to 100K miles.
Does this change anything for the nays? Also, I actually prefer the 4 door to the 2 door.... I love my SS, it's fun, but I am also really love the Mercs. |

I had a new 2008 C6 Z06 and went to a C63 AMG, I skipped the Camaro all together because every one has one and because the interior feels cheap. No ofense to anyone though. The Camaro looks great, I like it but I don't like that everyone has one. I see a few on my way to work and the location that I work.
On a good note, the camaro are some what fast and can be fast for cheap. Any camaro SS owner in Tucson wouldn't ever forget my red C63 AMG beating every Camaro SS at the local track(SIR). The only Camaro that slightly beat me was a S/C Camaro SS that had headers, tune, air filter and DR. If that SS S/C owner is reading this, just remember, I only had tune and headers and I was only doing 2.0 sec on my 60'. We both had a "6.2 liter engine, mine wasn't S/C, your was... My vote goes for the C63. It has better seats, better brakes(6 piston brakes up front and 4 on the back), it has a much more refined engine with dual throtle bodies, dual air filters and variable cam on the intake and exhaust. The camaro has a good engine but is not as refine, the C63 will put crazy torque at low , mid and high rpms as if it was an avalanche of torque. It also has a drive by wire throtle body(no cable)= faster response. The M156 is from AMG is the most powerful production V8 Naturally aspirated engine in the planet, pick your choice(451hp detune on the c Class, 525 HP on the E class or 560 hp on the SLS). By the way the M156 also weights less than the LS7 and put more power with 800cc less. The C63 was also the quickest and fastest production sedan car in the planet when it first launched in Dec 2008(Tested by the car magazines), Cadillac CTS-V came back and slightly took over. Just look it up on wikipedia or google. Remember, the C63 managed a 3.9 sec 0-60 on its first car magazine test in Dec 2008 and it did a 12.3@116 without rear LSD. The new ones have done 3.7 sec and 12.1@120 all of that with 255 size tires on the rear. I just sold my C63 but if you want to entaertain yourself look for Modernhorsepower(look it up on google). People are running 11 flat with Long tube headers, DR and tune. One last thing, a typical tune on a C63 picks up around 55-65whp and 50-60lb-tq, remember, the engine is detune from factory with only 70% throtle body opening, the C class suppose to have 525hp but they are rated at "only" 451 hp.
