This may be a stupid question? Sorry, if so. I have the ZL1 front bumper on my SS. I like the way the insert looks right there in the primer. I understand it would need final prep and paint, like you said. What I'm wondering is if that material could be prepped and painted to match the flat parts of the ZL1 bumper? Like the lower part and the ducts? I'm not knowledgeable about painting these sorts of things. I would like it best to match and not in some sort of glossy look.

You will need to final prep and paint, what you see is the product out of the box.

What you are looking for is Satin Black Paint, any paint shop can do this.

It is a semi gloss finish.

just out of curiosity, how much do you think a paint shop will cost someone for a satin black paint job for the insert?

I would expect anywhere between 150-250$ is fair.

You can also sand the part yourself and use a can of satin black paint (aprox 15-20$), satin black is very forgiving.

Just keep in mind, spray cans are not catalyzed products, they air dry. Hence their durability will be no where near from what the pro's can do for you.

Something we can consider, but so far we were told the shape is very hard to hydrodip, which means it will drive cost up. I don't see this being an option for quite some time...

What can I expect from a shop to charge for cutting my hood and drill six holes? I apologize that I'm new to modifying the stock hood-is something done to avoid the holes from rusting? Some pictures with the hood up would be great.
