Chapter 5, LS7...the plot thickens.....muuuaaaahaaahaa...... This VIN card from the dept. of black ops-disinformation division, is exactly what we need right now to keep us going throughout the winter and keep us excited until we have tangible product information directly from GM, ... Fasten your seat belts........ .

notice the highlight area???? The Book code for the camaro is 8E, and the Camaro VIN card shows the LS7 as does it correlate with the passenger car engine table!!
Excellent post. They can't fool the diehards.

ATS probably will. XTS is supposed to get it as well.

They'd like everyone to know that this VIN card is not accurate, or complete. It's an early draft that was never meant to be used for anything but development of the 2014 VIN sequence. To quote a portion of the message:

"It is not the final document, as it does not include a complete or accurate list of models or content. As you can imagine, the VIN card requires a tremendous amount of collaboration to verify the production information for each model across all four GM brands sold worldwide.

Rest assured, when we finalize the 2014 VIN card, it will be complete and factually accurate."

So that adds one more piece of information to chew on and what this all means, if anything....
What else would they say if there were plans to put in a LS7? Yes, we are coming out with a LS7 version of the camaro? I'm sure it's confidential and they can't speak openly about it so they have to choice but to say what they said whether true or not.

So if this is true, where is GM going to stuff the remote oil tank?

also if you look at this page, it shows another interesting find: engine type "w" is an "HO" or High Output LS3!!

Yeah but it already is. The LS3 is 426hp vs L99 400hp

LF3 has my interests peaked. Grand National!!!

Just because they said it's not complete doesn't mean the LS7 isn't going in the Camaro. It just means they didn't add the Z28 as a trim yet!

Scott must be rallying the Suburbans as we speak.

Cool

My 2010 V6 work car is getting stale to me. I am tired of being teased by Z28 rumours! Please! I was too poor when I was a teenager! BRING IT BACK! GM, I am ready to trade in my V6 for a Z28, as previous posters noted... I have cash, TAKE IT!

Does Z28 have to show up as a trim level?

Maybe a performance package like 1LE?

If i'm not mistaken wasn't the Synergy Green Camaro going to be a twin turbo v6 that was going to make 400 hp and get 30 mpg. I thought that was the reason for the color with the whole green thing going on around that time. The accent lighting in the interior was also green. Very sharp car. The last minute the engine was put on hold but
not the paint.
When I was at Barett Jackson last year I talked to one of the enginers who worked on the ZL1 project and when i asked if he was getting one, he just smiled and said he was waiting for 2014, so there might be some truth to the LS7 thing or maybe something even cooler.
I would think another option for a Z28 would be the LT1 bumped up a little to make it worth doing over the 426hp motor. Would be easier than the LS7 not being dry sump and not being hand built would be cheaper.
If there are left over LS7s, or they keep building them, why not a ZO6 C7 Vette?
I have always wanted to see another bad Z28, having a 71 RS/Z28 that my parents bought new for me for my 16th birthday which I still have, just hope it doesn't have an LS9. I would be very disappointed that I bought a new 2012 ZL1.

...all this good stuff is gonna keep us busy here for some time. Maybe the end result of this information will be at the Detroit Auto Show next month as one of the big releases scheduled.

I have a feeling the LS7 is for the COPO Camaro. Although a Z28 would be awesome.

Quote:
Highlights of the new COPO Camaro program include:

A sequenced build number matched to the engine but sold without a Vehicle Identification Number and cannot be registered for highway use
Three racing-class engine are available, including a naturally aspirated 427 (7.0L) and two supercharged 327 (5.3L) V-8 engines
Engine assembly at GM’s Performance Build Center, where the buyer can opt to participate in the engine assembly similar to Chevrolet’s Corvette Engine Build Experience and the Chevrolet Performance Build Your Own Crate Engine programs
Engines pairing with a Powerglide automatic transmission designed for drag racing
Five colors: Flat Black, Summit White, Victory Red, Silver Ice Metallic and Ashen Gray Metallic
A COPO graphics package similar to the one introduced on the concept vehicle available in Metallic White, Semi-Gloss Black, Inferno Orange Metallic and Chevy Racing Blue
Pricing starting at $89,000
A special collector’s package offering the purchase of all three engines with the COPO Camaro – including one installed in the car at delivery – with each engine serial number matched to the car

The COPO 427 is not the LS7. It's an iron block LSX variety.

COPO doesn't have a VIN or VIN card that applies to it.

Why? Ever see the price of anything with an LS7?

You got a great car, great engine, at a quite reasonable price with an LS3 ss. I bought a few Z06's back in the C5 day. Awesome car, great LS6 engine.... then the C6 Z06 came out with the Ls7 and the price shot through the roof. No more Z06s for me after that.

I wish they'd do a 427, wet sump, non titanium, cam'd with a tq range for the heavier Camaro, priced below the ZL1. Without the titanium, the rev limit would have to come down a bit, but for an affordable price - I'd love a 427 Camaro.

I'd consider trading my LS3 for an LS7 powered Camaro
One small request... can they put some 427 badges on it. I think that would be pretty cool

Te COPO is not a production car. It is a crate motor that ships in a Camaro.
