Does yours have this stepdown on the back edge of the insert as seen in this picture? I was wondering it that was right and if I will have to trim that to get it to fit flush with the hood.
Looks like the overhang for the stock hood the ZL1 insert hangs over a little so I believe this is what that is (with the edge you will see exactly how far forward it will go on the car)

Thanks, I can't tell anything from the instructions. All it says is test fit and trim as needed for a flush fit.

I guess it's supposed to be like that. After reading the instructions I may have to wait till spring to install it. That is going to kill me LOL

That is correct. If anything the overhand has 1-2 mm (1/16'') over, xtra material left behind to give you adjustability during the install. Depending on how is sits on your hood you may need to sand this area down to as much as the part thickness of the rear.

The rear wall is made to be longer to cover the rear edge of the hood.

They should all be similar within 1-2 mm.

I am ready to kick off my install I unpacked the hood taped off the posts as to not scratch the hood. I am going to be heading out to get the masking tape tomorrow and begin my cut tomorrow or Sunday depending on my schedule if all goes well I will have the insert test fitted for Christmas Eve. I will then take it Wednesday to the body shop to have them shoot it AGM and if all goes well pick it up Friday and install it

Here are a few photos I took tonight I opted to purchase the ZL1 water deflector as well with my kit.

The last photo is what it will look like painted

Happy Holidays

Engine clearance can be your issue depending on your air intake. You can trim the deflector, but then the water may hit the engine...

Hence why the Tl1 Deflector should fit all sets ups, and is removable. The Zl1 Deflector will need to be permanently glued on.

Let me know what your set is and your findings.

I couldn't help myself, I just had to see how it would look... Should I keep the stripes too or get rid of them?
I think I am going to get rid of the stripes as they are now but add a single pinstripe outlining the insert...
