I just think it's funny how back in the day the little Asian cars had the rep for handling through the corners and the Americans were the ones powersliding and all that, now it's reversed.

so out of all the drift-bashers in this thread - how many of you have actually drifted or tried to drift a car?

If your not in control while your drifting, your not drifting. Your sliding out of control.

Drifting is the controlled powerslide of your car.

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I`m not bashing drifting but I was wondering, quite a few years ago I was at the strip, blew my engine entering the traps (107 MPH) blew the block, oil everywhere, I slide to the right for what seems forever, then I slide to left for what seems forever, I finally come to an unscathed stop.(must have been my superior driving skills ) So my question is this, do I qualify as to actually have drifted or at least accidently tried drifting whether he wanted to or not?

No .. not really.

I dont expect people on a Camaro Forum to have a great respect for people who can drift, but it takes a TON of control.

I know we have all seen this video, but all it really is is an impressive display of drifting.

no kidding...thank you for your enlightenment.

Not my style. Useless on the track. Dangerous as hell on the road.

...just showing off and wasting rubber.

it is other racers' style. depends on what kind of race it is. shouldn't be done on the road (unless in some extreme circumstance, such as avoiding crashing)

just showing off is the point and wasting rubber is just part of it - that's almost like going to a race track & complaining about having to burn so much gas

It does take an enormous amount of control and timing. Everybody has their thing. To some it's just a waste of tires to slide around corners and driving sideways. To others it's a waste of tires to stand still trying to create the largest cloud of smoke possible. All in all different stroke for different folks. No need to bash one's opinion or curiosity into the camaro's ability to perform such feats.

F&F tokyo drift used a mustang in the end of the movie and the uproar was huge. One might think judging by the posts in this thread......

Pony cars = striaght ahead POWER & speed and massive tire burn at the line.

Tuner cars = fancy spins around corners and cute body kitted cars w/ neon.

Never should the two meet. IMO both kinds of style are appealing and it would be interesting to see a blown Camaro go sideways. If it's done right at least it could be said that muscle cars can beat tuners both ways.....again just my 2 cents....
