I managed to remove the felt and the other stuff on top of them and I cleaned the passenger side one. I then painted it with Chevrolet Orange 500C spary paint I got at autozone that was on sale for $5 a can (saved $1.50 woo hoo lol). I then put a couple coats of clear on it and I am going to let it sit while I am gone so I don't ruin it.

When I come back from vacation I plan on going to a powder coater to get a quote on getting my Intake Manifold, Plenum Cover and my billet pedals powder coated. Hopefully it comes out to a fair price so I can then be done with that.

There are also a couple of other projects/mods I still have yet to do. I plan on sending out my headrests to get embroidered, I am going to try to change the filter on the Rx breather to a black one, I plan on buying a plenum spacer and I may relocate my IAT as well as replace some of the stock bolts with black ones for contrast.

Quick update: I decided the Chevrolet Orange paint was too bright for me so I hit the cover with 1 coat of IOM paint. It looks darker and will match my throttle body and other stuff much better now I think.

Here is the diff between the Chevrolet Orange spray paint I used and a bowtie painted in IOM that I am currently working on:

So finished painting my valve covers in IOM!!!! I think they look awesome! I can't wait to install them. The passanger side valve cover is a little lighter than the driver side but I used two diff techniques painting them. And you won't even be able to tell once they are installed on the car.

Here is the passenger side one done:

And the driver side with my Rx breather (tried using simple green to clean the oil off the filter part and got some off, still leaning to changing the filter to black)

And here they are both. In this pic you can kinda see how the passenger side is a little bit lighter than the driver side.

(o in this pic you can also see the rear bowtie I painted haha)

Now the reason the passenger side valve cover is lighter is because I originally used Chevrolet Orange engine paint and then realized it was too light so I hit it with a couple of layers of IOM. But for the driver side I decided to hit it with a primer engine paint and then I hit it with IOM paint.

I am so excited to install these and see how they go with everything else!

The next thing I need to figure out before re-installing these covers is I want to make the bolts that put it on to be black except there is a little bit of a problem, they are standard bolts. They look like this:

Now I can remove the rubber thing and it looks like I will need to buy some black insert washers? and black bolts which wouldn't be too bad. The only problem is I can't pull out the bolt from the washer so I have no idea how to go about switching them for black ones.

The covers look AWESOME. Thanks for the tips on the painting them with engine primer first.

As for the bolts, paint them black? Then just touch them up as necessary after the install. Might not even notice them once they are back on the engine.

Covers look great! Can't wait to see them on the engine! I agree with 600man, paint them black and touch up after install.

edit: I forgot to ask, how was the cruise?

Thanks! I am so happy on how they came out! Painting the bolts is a good idea. I'll have to try it out and see how it goes, if all goes well I will prob end up painting my tb bolts as well.

O man it was interesting lol. Swam with a dolphin, rode a horse. While horseback riding my friend got kicked in the leg by my horse and broke their tibia. And of course this happened in Jamaica so we had to go to a doctor's office so they could get 4 stitches and a cast. Luckily everything was free the antibiotics, x-ray everything lol but man that put a damper in the vaca. The only positive thing was this was towards the end of the trip so we didn't miss any other islands but man the last two days were horrible. Another good thing is we got refunded for horseback riding but it is safe to say I won't be going on a horse ever again. Yet despite this I still had a good time and it was really nice getting away from school, work and winter.

Guess a quick update since it has been awhile... Yesterday I dropped off my intake manifold and my billet pedals to get powdercoated. The intake manifold is going to be powdercoated chrome and the pedals will be orange (to match my interior better than that red)..Can't wait to get them back and see how the intake manifold came out!!!! Depding on how it looks I may paint some parts of it black for a little contrast but we will see how it comes out first . Once the IM is done I can finally clear off my kitchen table with all the various parts that go on my intake manifold lol (tb, black iceolator, plenum cover and my new plenum spacer)

Haha that's funny...I don't care that my kitchen table is covered in car parts cause I never used it anyways usually just ate at my desk or at the coffee table in front of my tv.

Well just got back from the powdercoater today, only took a day and a half to powdercoat my intake manifold, was shocked thought it would take longer. I also had him do my billet pedals that use to be red but are now orange!

The intake manifold came out more of like a polished look instead of a pure chrome but I am happy none the less, it looks WAY better than how it use to. Here are a before and after pic

Before

(you can see my failed attempt at polishing it myself, also ignore the black sharpie marks lol)

And After

Now I may or may not add some black to the intake manifold but I am not sure yet, will have to see how everything looks once I put it back together.

Here are a before and after of the pedals
Before

After

The pictures of the powdercoating job don't do it justice at all.
