MAYBE NOT!
I could have been wrong back on Oct 14 when I declared victory over this issue. After the better part of a month with no probem the damn thing is doing it again this morning.
Back to the dealer we go again. And to think I sold a perfectly good 50 year old car that NEVER gave me any problems at all for this.

STILL NOT FIXED!

Here's the history and what the dealer has done:
  1. Sept 25 '10 - 80 miles - REPLACED GAS CAP RESET COMPUTER REPAIRED CONNECTION AT EVAP LINE AT CONTRO VALVE.
  2. Oct 6 '10 - 712 miles - P0455, PERFORMED EVAP SYSTEM TEST TO LOCATE LEAK IN PURGE VALVE, REPLACED VALVE, RETESTED AND PASSED
  3. Nov 8 '10 - DIAGNOSE STICKING PURGE SELENOID REPLACED SENOID AND LINES RETESTED PASSED EVAP TEST
  4. November 19 '10, "TIGHTEN GAS CAP" message comes back, P0455 code returned and the check engine light is on again. The dealer has been called but they have not returned my call.

Should I escalate this to the Chevrolet customer service folks or give the dealership one more crack at this? I'm really sick and tired of this %^@# and want it fixed. I've bought a code scanner and could just reset it everytime it happens, but that's not the point. I WANT IT FIXED DAMN IT!

What do you guys think?

I sincerely hope this is my last post on this subject.

My 2011 has been back to the dealer 4 times on this issue. This last time they ordered and replaced EVERYTHING that has to do with the evap. system. They swapped out the entire system, canister, selenoids, valves, hoses, clamps, sensors, everything. They kept the car 2 days and had the GM experts back east on the phone and the Internet consulting on it.

So far so good. That "tighten gas cap" message seems to be gone. I have to give kudos to my Chevy dealer for being so persistant and helpful. I'd like to give the Camaro factory a big basket of lemons for building a car with this problem in it to begin with.

I'm on the same boat... I only had my car for 3+ weeks and I'm going to take it to the shop for the second time. Pretty disappointing Chevrolet...

First time (10/25/12 was under two week after getting the new car. around 467 miles on the new engine. The service engine light came on took it to the dealer the diagnosed and got the P0455 code, apparently the Solenoid vacuum line was not fully seated, once it was connected the code purge.

Its been two weeks since it was address and the engine check light came back on tonight. So I'll be taking it tomorrow morning to see what is going on.

My biggest disappointment here, this is a new vehicle, I'm sure this sort of thing happen but come on!!!

Hi, on my European 45th I own from December of 2011, I think to have the same issue as explained in this topic. Some weeks ago, the board computer said to "check the correct closing of fuel tank cap", so I opened it and closed it thinking that maybe I closed it bad the last time i filled the tank. Some days pass, then, this message appears again... but i just erase the message and continue to drive. The evening of the same day, the "motor light" appears... so i decide to visit my Chevrolet dealer who tell me that it could get a relation with the message i had before. Then he check with his computer linked to the car, and only one error is detected, apparently in relation with the message I had. So he checks the cap and deletes the message explaining to me that maybe it comes from the cap. 3 or 4 days pass and then the "motor" light appears again. So i decided to search in camaro5 forum then I found this topic.

I see that finally, the real cause of this issue hasn't been detected but i also notice that last answer to this topic is from 2011... so my question is: does it exist another topic where I could find the last discussion about this issue ?

Thanks a lot by advance.

OK guys

After 7 visits with my 2012 LS I think they finally got mine figured out. Seems that some of the tanks are not working properly as the shut off is not working and allowing us to overfill our tanks. This in turn allows the evac system to draw liquid fuel from the tank and filling the evac canister. One problem I ran into that I did not read was I also just after filling would experience engine stall a couple times. So, they finally replaced my tank and I haven't had any issues since. Also, now it seems when I fill my gas tank it is taking less to fill it by a couple gallons roughly. If anyone needs to get ahold of my dealer to talk to service they are in Michigan. Mike Savioe Chevrolet.

Hope this helps.

same issue for me now, bought my 2LT in the begining of 2010. Noticed that it took extra gas last time I filled up, didnt think about it and then when it got to about half full, tighten gas cap message, wont go away after a few days.

edit:
all fixed and my GMPP covered the whole thing
