Date of Manufactured by VIN?

How can I tell the date of manufactured by the VIN number?

Long story:
I went in to look at a black camaro 1le...they informed me that they had given the car to the auto show and that it was damaged and they are having it repaired. I told them I didn't want a car that was in the auto show and to order me a new one.

They agreed, mentioned the order has been placed but they keep beating around the bush when I ask them for the order number. They tell me they have placed the order but GM hasn't given them an order number. I fear they will try to give me the repaired 1le from the auto show. Can I confirm the manufactured date by the VIN they provide me?

The easiest way to find out build date is to ask for a copy of the invoice. The build date is on the upper right corner. I always ask for a copy of the invoice anyway just because I think it's nice to have with my purchase paperwork. Most dealers are willing to give you a copy since invoice pricing info is readily available on the internet.

Best place to have the exact date is too look at the bar code sticker on the engine frame right under the fuse box on the passenger side. Might need a flashlight. This sticker is the date that the engine and under carriege where connected together. The car goes out of the lime about 1 hour after and onto the parking lot. I went to Oshawa Plant in 2011 and we visited both plants. The under carriege is assembled in a different city. We where given this exact information be GM techniciens.
