Anyone can buy a car at MSRP if that's the car you want to buy.

Everyone probably know what MSRP is but IMOHO:
MSRP is for leveling the business playing field and encouraging vendors "dealers" to not under sale each other in the same market segment and a tool to help prevent price fixing. I think if you know the MSRP going in then you know the difference your willing to pay for the car you want to buy.

But $1,200 for a "Sunshine Package" that's tinted windows and N20 green tire valve caps? That's just taking advantage of someone!

Is this right?

Was helping Sister-in-Law find a car after she saw mine, and was browsing dealers in her area and saw this:

http://www.chevroletofspartanburg.co...-SC/1810231093

for those that don't want to click on the link it is a Summit white 2LS
at $30,740

I am not accusing the dealer of price gouging (could be an error on the site) but dang, sloppy work in either case.

All of there performance vehicles have a $3K markup and they think they're doing you a favor by dropping the price to MSRP.

Even funnier, when I clicked on the link, it had been sold...

Stay away!!! Price gouging and lies. Get u a car with damage and don't budge on price. They stay at sticker. Don't trust Smith Chevrolet and the surrounding areas for 200 miles

I can agree with this. I bought my Camaro there at a somewhat reasonable (but not really good) price, but it wasn't what I'd call an easy negotiating process. They started out asking way too much and offering way too little on my trade, and on top of that their initial financing offer was so bad I ended up with a 3% lower interest rate before all was said and done. Plus they did everything they could think of to try to redirect the subject away from the purchase price of the car.

You might be able to get a good deal there (I don't think I did, but I don't think I got a completely terrible deal, either), but you're going to have to push really, really hard for it. The only reason I even stuck it out was that the car they had available had exactly what I wanted, and I wasn't patient enough to shop around.

I ended up being so put off by their offer on my trade (they initailly offered me $1500 for a Cobalt LT2 with 74k miles, and only raised that to $2500 when I pointed out that KBB for a trade-in on that car in FAIR condition was $3500) that I didn't trade it in at all, just decided to sell it myself.

I love my new Camaro, but I was less than thrilled with the process of acquiring it.

Cavender Chevrolet- 30700 Interstate 10 W. Boerne, TX, 78006.

Never before have I had such a negative experience while visiting a dealer. There are much better and professional Chevy dealers close to the same area.
