No A/C for me. I didn't have it in any car when I grew up and I own an HVAC business.

Kid won't be in it much. Sunday drives to eat, to the park, you know, that type of thing.

That isn"t my biggest reason. I love the Idea of no supercharger to heatsoak and I love the looks better than any car that I've seen in a very long time. I can't stop staring at the pictures.

The problem with owning a vette (yes I've owned one) is that you get some pretty silly questions when driving it. My all time favorite is people asking me is it my dad's...I'm in my 30's :/

The other downside is the lack of backseat. Still having kids in the house and errands to run the backseat really comes in handy.

Lastly when I owned the corvette I didn't find myself constantly doing double takes walking away from it like I do with the Camaro. The Camaro is pure sex on wheels!

I like having the option of taking more than 1 person in the car. I have owned Corvettes and still have 1. But passenger space is limited to only 1.

It barely avoided it in the Corvette, which is smaller, lighter & has taller gearing. Chances that the Z/28 will avoid it are slim to nil.

To get a new Z06 you are going to have to find a dealership with one sitting on the lot since they stopped building C6's at the beginning of the month.

The ZL1 Convertible MSRP starts at $59,545!!

I would say the Z/28 MSRP would be around $65,000-$70,000!!

The backseat argument for the car is kind of irrelevant, you have to cram someone back there, even a kid. And if the point is that the Z06's interior sucks, what makes the Z/28's any better? It has no radio and no a/c, it might look better, but who buys a track focused car for the interior?

I think the Z/28 is sweet, but not if it's anymore than 35-40k.

Why not just get a 1970 GSX instead of a 1987 GNX?

I mean it has the 455 Stage 1 in it, plus ram air, build quality is better, and can run 13.38 stock if you turn the a/c off. Not trying to start a GS v GN war. Just saying.

.
.
.
Get my drift?

A loaded SS will put you at $40k. The brakes and 427 option along will be more that $10k over that. I will be you see this have a higher MSRP than the ZL1. I could be wrong... let's just wait a see.

It will be more expensive and rarer than the ZL1. It has a hand built LS7, carbon-ceramic brakes, model-specific wheels, additional body kit (probably some carbon fiber), and standard recaros.

Z/28 will be more expensive than ZL1 but less than current Z06.

It's the same Vette vs Camaro argument that's been had since '67.

The real test will be how close the Z/28 gets or if it can match the Z06 in some performance tests.

All you have to do is look at the corvette pricing structure and you can see that the Z/28 is gonna reach $80k. The Z06 hit's 80k easily and then you make the jump to $110k for the ZR1.

The LS7 and the brakes alone are a $30k premium over a 1LE and we haven't started talking about the new wheels/tires and seats etc.. it's going to be a pricey Camaro so get over it.

Now in response to the OP, the Z/28 will give you sensations that the refined Z06 won't be able to approach..

Being the owner of a '70 GS Stage 1 Convertible, and an (original-owner) '87 T-Type Turbo, I say, "Why not get ALL of them?!"

This is a great question, but also one no more complicated than why would you buy an apple when you could get an orange?

They are two different means to different ends. The Z/28 is not the fastest track car GM makes. Plane and simple.

Why would you buy a ZL1 when for the same dough you could have bough a Gran Sport Corvette?

Because some people love Camaros and some like Corvettes. A few people will go back and forth for what suits them at any given time. But some would prefer the fastest Camaro more than the 2nd fastest Corvette.

I wouldn't throw either out of be for eating crackers and if I were economically of the appropriate means, I would buy every single car that has an LS7 in it. Of course if I had that kind of cash an SS sedan with an LS7 would fill out the fleet.

When we see the numers, I am pretty sure that the Stingray with 450 PLUS HP and the appropriate cooling package will run all day and then some with a Z28. That's simply because it will weigh a good 500 less with an engine that will be only a bit short of the LS7.

So the question is not just the Z06, which costs more, but for the mone a Z/28 is likely to cost, what else would float your boat?
