Never said that. Just meant I have always wanted a Z/28 built in the spirit of the original.

I'd stay away from both actually. The z28 is to track focused, the c7 only has 2 seats.
Make mine a 1LE or ZL1.

The new Z/28 is not intended to be for everyone. It's designed with a purpose, and that purpose is not shared with the C7. They are 2 different vehicles with fundamentally different designs and intentions.

That being said, I think the Z will beat a new C7 to a pulp on a road course. That is, until they come out with a Z06 equivalent in the C7.

But you do have to decide on one or the other unless you want to buy both.

How do you know? What makes you think the Z will beat the C7 track or drag strip? Nothing has been confirmed yet.

Thumbs up

2014 Camaro Z28 is the best Camaro ever.
2014 Corvette C7 the best Corvette ever.

Based for example on what Porsche does with the Cayman and the 911. Even that the Cayman S is a very well balanced machine (better than the 911 Carrera S). Porsche never allowed the Cayman to be over their flag top sport car the 911. Same thing will happen here. GM will not allow that the more expensive Corvette to fall below the Camaro.
It will be interesting to see on the track the new Corvette Z51 VS the Z28, but I think that the Z28 will not have a chance against some type of Z06 or ZR1 with the magnet... suspension and wide Michelin cup tires.
Also for example: the present Camaro ZL1 will beat the Corvette Grand Sport and the stock Z06 (except for the Carbon edition & ZR1 that are GM's top sport cars).
If you compare one VS the other. Corvette always has been much lighter with a much lower CG and more aerodynamic, but lacks the Camaro's back seat that is very practical. Either way both are excellent track machines
without able competition from FORD or Dodge (except the VIPER that is a contender)

The answer depends on the final HP numbers.

The LS7 when in the Corvette is rated at 505. But when they put the LSA in Camaro it gained 20 HP on the same application in the CTS-V.

So is the LS7 going to be the same 505? I'd guess yes, because I don't see GM investing a lot into that engine for such low numbers and even spending the $$ to recertify it.

Will the LT1 come in at 450? 460? 470??? That we don't know yet. GM announced the 3.6TT and it is pretty much what they announced it to be. They announced the certified numbers. The LT1 the did not.

C7 will have essentially the Z06 frame (aluminum) and chassis with one exception.

TIRES. The Z/28 has some pretty fancy rubber there. The Z06 and ZR1 can be had with Cup Tires. Those tires alone knocked serious time off the Nurburgring laps for both of those cars. The C7 may or may not have optional track tires.

So if you put equal tires on both a C7 and Z/28 it's a pretty close race.

Also keep in mind Corvette has much better aerodynamics so a long straight favors the Y-car over the F.

Z/28 3800 pounds
C7 3300 pounds

Z/28 505 "plus" HP
C7 450 "plus" HP

So after all that blabbering, it's ceramic brakes and tires that are the difference.

Remember, GM has said the C7 is a sub 4.0 second car to 60 mph. That alone is much faster than the C6 with 430 HP. So to get that improvement I think we are looking at a little more than a 20 HP bump.

Opinions are like problems every one has one. I wouldn't go on the c7 forum and and compare a z/28 to it . They are allocated different . I believe they said the 2014 z/28 are for true die hards and apparently your not a die hard. If the shoe fits where it!!!
