I'm so glad I found this forum. My 2012 vert is in the shop right now due to WMS problem. Apparently for quite some time, water has been draining/pooling in my rear passenger floor board. I never knew it was happening, but on some days i would wonder why my car was foggy on the inside. I don't sit in the back seat so who knew. Then I had it detailed and the guy who did the work pointed it out.

I get my car back tomorrow, 4-4-13, so it's only been a 3 day ordeal which is better than some have experienced here. But after reading this forum, I'm better equipped to understand what the service agent will tell me about what they did to repair it. I know I'm getting a new bag and the whole back seat has been removed, carpet removed/shampooed but that's about all they've told me up to now. If I find out any revealing information upon pickup I'll share.

I can't believe your happy at Doyle. They are the worst dealer in the area. I can't stand Phil. Worst service writer on the planet. I hate even driving by the place. Go to doan if you care about your car. I went over a year and 15000 miles then the car went to Doyle. Car had dings and smelled. Oil all over the steering wheel. And they refused to get me a rental car and instead let me use their 18 passenger cargo can with only 2 seats in it. Then called and asked for it back and gave me an alero with 130k miles and smelled like a bathroom.

I didn't mean I was happy with Doyle. I just said they did a decent job on this repair. I will never go there again for service because I too have had bad luck there. I think the assistance from the GM field engineer and my presence during the whole repair is what created the success with this particular repair. Also, the technician, Steve was pretty good.

SStoked, did you need the new tonneau cover as part of this defective top/water bag issue? Or for some other reason? Wondering if I should get mine out and put it on to check it out (I've never done that). My 5th bow broke today, so I'd like to get everything taken care of at the same time.

Is Steve the older guy with the salt and pepper hair?? Kind of tall?? 6 ft or so?? He tried to deny my warranty and accused me of abusing my car because the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. I didn't know any forum members lived so close to me. I'm also in Webster but thanks to Doyle I got my car lemoned.

I got a new tonneau cover a couple months after the water bag replacement when I brought it in for the top replacement. The tonneau cover started to delaminate like a lot of them do. I highly recommend you start using yours in the hot sun for two reasons; 1) to discover if yours is defective. 2) to keep your top from flapping in the wind (hot sun or not).

Steve is tall and definitely 6 feet. He had a brush cut I think and I would call him younger (I'm 42). He is s technician and not a service writer.

Many people keep stating the release date for the "new top mechanism" was June 27th. I had the mechanism & top material replaced on 12 June - the dealer told me "this is the new one - we got it ahead of release schedule".
How do I know this is true?

It took 8 months for the top to start flapping against the storage well frame & wearing a hole in the material. I just had the 3rd fabric top put on; there's a 2" space between the material & the frame right now (when the top is down), but what's to stop it from sliding back over time & start flapping against the storage well frame again?

Did the "new mechanism" fix this problem? If so, then I may not have gotten the new one...

All in all, I still love this car & am trying not to let the inconvenience of 45 days of shop time cause me to let GM buy it back; I should have an answer from the lemon law lawyers in about 3 weeks.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely keep an eye on mine over the summer. Maybe I'll take periodic measurements of the gap. I know nothing about a new mechanism other than more tension chords with the new fabric. As fa as I know, all I have is the updated 5th bow.

Yea. Phil is a service writer. He is balding. Steve was my tech too. I personally wouldn't let him work on my lawn mower. He had dropped a gear out of my trans and showed me 3rd gear which was actually a syncro not a gear at all. Totally unimpressed. I'm glad you got your car done well though. If you want to join a local car club check out Roclife.org. We have a ton of fast cars. Alot of imports but a good mix and alot of decent car people. We do cruises and get togethers. We have a cruise to the Glenn setup already.
