engine oil pressure

I was wondering what the oil pressure numbers should be on the LFX engine. I just purchased a new 2013 2LT with this engine and noticed the oil pressure jumps up to 70 psi when cold, practically pegging the needle. Once it starts to warm up it drops to around 30-35 psi. Is this the norm?

That is a little low.....at cruise? At idle it is fine, but as soon as you are up in RPM's it should be above 50 to maintain tension on the chains.

Maybe I should rephrase my post. These oil pressure readings I'm talking about are at idle. I haven't owned the car long enough to be able to quickly read the oil pressure gauge while driving since it is down low on the console.

What you are describing is normal for at-idle readings on the LFX.

When I accelerate it will peg the needle (70psi I think). Cruise at around 45 mph it is right in the middle (30 or 35 psi).
