Everything about the car is awesome!!

From what I've "learned" from you guys is that the hi-speed, aerodynamics isn't really that much of a factor on these on these cars for the type of tracks that are usually run...high end top speed is rarely reached and won't give the ZL-1 a real "advantage" there.....

Good to hear from ZL-1 guys though for a change....lol

Not sure an engine can really determine RWHP... that is really transmission and drive train losses I would think. Don't know how the 3.73 rear end in the ZL1 would compare to the lower gears in the Z/28 for losses, but I can't imagine 480 RWHP on a 505 BHP rated engine. I could be wrong.

Anyway, good point on the ratios... lb/hp works better outside a spread sheet to be sure
580hp/4120 lb = 0.1408 or 7.1 lb/hp ZL1

505hp/3800 lb = .1329 or 7.52 lb/hp Z28

3590 lbs z/28 505hp/3590 lb=0.1407 or 7.1 lb/hp

Z06 Vette 505hp/3175 lbs= .1591 or 6.3 lb/hp Z06

ducati Panigale w/termis: 203hp/407lb = .4988 or 2.0 lb/hp !!! (Get's worse with my fat backside strapped to it (about 3 lb/hp but still...

Dear GM,

Please offer the LS7, with dry sump, and appropriate drive train as a Camaro SS or 1LE power train option.

Thank you!

While I would like to see it as a option it's more than likely not going to happen. GM's Fleet average (MPG) would suffer severely with loads of LS7's running around town.

Rear wheel on the ls7 vettes is always 460 give or take a couple. That's with a shorter drivetrain and special rear transaxle. The Z28 will have less rwhp because of more shtuff to spin under there plus a longer (little heavier) driveshaft. And, it will be toting around several hundred lbs. I hope it isn't something dismal like 425 rear wheel - have a feeling that's what will be seen.

Per Chevy performance, we have 425. (engine? wheel?) looks to be engine. car probably has a super stout bottom end that is waiting for huge power upgrades. and the weight, OMG.

EDIT, after looking at what is inside that 427 copo engine, and at the fact that it spins to 8000rpm, that thing is making HUGE power. 600? 700? on a 3200lbs chassis. Holy geez. why do they give the Z28 the 505 hp (7 year old Z06 engine design) when they can bump power up that high in an LS7.

I'd like to see the comparison with the same tires on the Z/28 and ZL1.

I could get really excited about the Z-28 if we could ditch the tail lights.

so glad i bought a ZL1... I not really digging the style of this car at all... I'll say it again, I hate the new changes... faster or not...its just not for me. I've been doing some reading on this car just because I'm curious of what they did to it....sounds like everything fun about the camaro has been sucked out of it... but if you are a strictly track guy...go for it.

cheers!

Lets see we shed weight, added the high-revving fire-breathing torque monster ls7 under the hood, recaro seats, finely-engineered track-tuned suspension, and supercar performance (so far even better than the zl1). Considering camaro was always for guys looking for performance I'd say GM put everything fun about camaro back INTO the car! Cheers!

Put the Z/28 tires and brakes on the ZL1 and - Voila - the 3 seconds will disappear like magic! And you can still listen to your favorite radio station and drive in comfort on a hot day! LOL ...

I always thought the ZL1 and Z/28 were not meant to appeal to the same buyers... Same as the V6 and SS don't appeal to the same people. All this infighting is starting to sound a lot like the V8 vs V6 threads....
Just be glad we all have a choice....V6, SS, SS 1LE, Z/28, and ZL1... What a lineup! Something for everyone.
