Just remember, he has about $250K in the Red Devil. If you give me that much money to play with, I could be know for a lot of things as well. I am extremely excited about what the Z/28 is going to deliver and look forward to potentially owning one. I think what Mark did with the 69 is fantastic but he will not have the unlimited budget with the newer car and he will have about 1K more pounds to figure out what to do with when heading into corners.

I think what Mark did with his personal car and what GM may be asking him to do with the Z/28 are apples and oranges. Not as much budget. Not as much flexibility (Government Safety Standards MUST still be met), more weight, less power. I think he has his work cut out for him based on everyone's expectations. With all that said, I hope he hits a home run. Can't wait.

...I think the LS7 answer about whether or not it can keep the emissions waiver moving forward through '14 into '15 is the main worry. It's a compromise car, not really missing anything. GM threw in some really cool additions...and stripped out some weight<as much as they could really without putting in CF or some other exotic materials to reduce LB's without jacking up the MSRP>. If they wanted to, it could have the exotic materials added and place it into the stratosphere like the Euro's..., and be lighter even further..but it''s a Chevy, an American made car which will be produced to be affordable like it's kin within reason.

The C5 Z06 had titanium exhaust and in production volumes didn't add $8,000. Also it had Glass Mat batteries which saved a lot of mass as well but had other issues.

As long as it is high quality Ti so that durability is not sacrificed and it does not crack, a lower price is fine by me. High-flowing, high-efficiency HJS trimetallic catalytic converters are also costly. If Chevy could leverage enough volume to get the package down to $5k it would be a great bargain.

Just to clarify- LiON technology has nothing in common with glassmat technology. Modern LiON batteries exceed lead acid in any measure except they need to be loaded for a few seconds in less than zero degree f temps to bring the voltage up to specs. Not an issue for the Z/28 intended use. The massive weight savings and potential inclusion of a "neverdie" device providing emergency start capability makes investing in one for a track car a no-brainer.

I would've like to see them take out the rear seats....everyone is talking about practicality. They already have that with the ZL1. Maybe do like Ford used to do with the Cobra R. GM should offer an even more deleted content package. 3800lbs isnt light, but if they could easily remove another 200 lbs it could be even better.

I'm down for that, that model can be called the Copo. While the Z/28 can be more practical and be on a lighter chassis/faster than a ZL1.

Division heads already stated they wouldn't since a 2 seater already existed...Corvette.

that would be a good option actually. or maybe they could have made lighter weight rear seats that are easily removable.

Some really good ideas but you over qualified it into and unattainable car.

1 - removing carbon brakes will almost certainly take any adantage the Z/28 has on the ZL1 at the track. This can't happen as that is why the Z/28 exists........to be faster on the track.

2 - 200 to 300 pounds less? Can't happen for any reasonabe amount of money. Look at what the did to get 100 pounds out. and 200 pounds alone would require the car to have no seats excpet the drivers, converting all the chassis bits to aluminum and a whole bunch of premium materials. Do able yes, but not with quaification Number 3

3 - $60,000 price tag. You might see that if there were no carbon brakes, but as I said, that is what gives the Z/28 it's reason to be.

I do like you cusomization ideas to make it more "adjustable".
