Thumbs down stay away from Granatelli Motor Sports !

I've spent over $30,000. with upgrades JR Granatelli recommended and can't even drive my car 1 block w/o it breaking down and when i demanded he fix it or I'd take him to court his response was sue him.
Flood this scam artist with post. The C-sucker blocked me, and won't answer my calls. Found this on the web:

Yea, I was stupid for using this guy. Forget about drag racing I can't even drive the car down the street ! They even put a new transmission in and I had to bring it back cause it felt like it was going to come up thru the center consoul. When he got under there he said opps, his guys forgot to tighten the bolts ???? WTF I'm no mechanic but i think I'd know enough to tighten the bolts !!

Sorry to hear that man! I cant even have my tires swapped on my car without having a break down! I dont find it easy to trust people with my car, its not theres and they dont care for it like you would! A good shop with people you can trust is hard to find! Find a new shop to fix your girl right, and sue there a$$ off!!!

I wouldn't buy a life jacket from the guy if I was drowning...

I made my mistake shortly after buying the Camaro. My first set of turbos lasted one week... Then I had to buy the replacements.... at his pricing... He told me, and I quote..."they are 1600 a piece, so 3600 for two of them," WTF... he told me this in front of lots of people at the Phoenix Fest, and then he almost got his backside handed to him when my wife, who never missed a beat asked him if he would take a check, and he stated "No, I prefer plastic,"

I had just spent thousands of dollars with this POS and he throws that out... I was ready to mess him up... The only reason it didn't happen was I was a thousand miles from home with broke car...

He tried to make amends by throwing on a set of "0" ohm wires at the Fest in Phoenix. Wrong... My builder and I took them apart when I got home and they are cheap generic wires from AutoZone that he puts a fancy cover on. He buys the crap in bulk and makes a killing on it... We put the factory wires back on...

J.R. likes to buy crap knockoff parts from questionable suppliers and re-label them as his own high performance parts... He's great with service, help and information right up until he has your credit card info...


He informed me at the Phoenix Fest he needed my used turbos for his display motor but that he would ship them in for warranty work as soon as he got back to his shop.... I'll give him credit, he did that, but shipped them in his name to be returned to him after they were rebuilt... They were my turbos, bought and paid for... so some time later he calls me and tells me he credited my acct with XX monies which was substantially less than he charged me for them originally and certainly less than he charged me for the second pair... He turned around and sold my turbos to some poor schlep that didn't know any better, and you can bet he sold them as new...

As mentioned before, I wouldn't buy a life jacket from him if I was drowning... Something he hasn't known until now, since I know he'll read this, is I have talked at least ten members out of buying his kit and going with any of a number of the competitors... All ALL remnants of his crap is off the car... It's a shame he and his customer service and commitment to quality suck.... The original kit was a decent design and would have been great with a couple of refinements... but nope, J.R. would rather screw someone and move on to other pastures than build a solid loyal client base...

He is a silver spoon born tool making money off of his families name... and screwing the world one customer or ten at a time...

Seems as if this is the trend lately with the company's that have been taken over by sons/daughters who have never had to work for anything. It is a real shame to see a fathers years of hard work be destroyed by a "silver spoon" as was stated. Same scenario has happened to me recently....you trust a name, only to find out everything that name used to stand for is now corrupt.

Seriously, did you notice that my user name isn't quite the same shade of red as yours... I'm a moderator, and I've been asked for two years to post what happened, and until now I refused....

This sub-forum is exactly what is being demonstrated here... the satisfaction of dis-satisfaction with vendors, regardless of sponsor status....

Having said that, there are people with an unfounded agenda that do nothing but follow vendors around creating havoc.... You don't pay to be here, the sponsoring vendors do... That certainly doesn't mean the vendors are always right, or the members are always wrong....

We delete postings of harassment regardless of whom they are directed towards; be it a general member or a sponsoring vendor. We track post histories prior to making rash decisions, and we have access to much more information than the general populous.

Why refuse for years to help keep someone from getting ripped off..... especially if they've been taken for thousands? It's beneficial for everyone to broadcast troubles and findings.
It can also force manufacturers to keep on their toes with quality.

Vendors always have the right to explain themselves and some of them do a damn good job of it.

In my experience it becomes a he said she said thing.

You're written off as a disgruntled customer.

I spend a lot of time at a performance shop, and I've learned one thing... In a quality shop, the occasional unhappy customer is the customer that has no idea what they want in the first place....

Typically, they tramp from shop to shop looking for satisfaction, but like my ex wife, if they don't know what they want it's a given no one else will...

I refuse to be one of them. I knew from the start what I wanted... I didn't go out and buy parts that didn't fit the end product.. I worked with a reputable quality builder and we planned for several months prior to even starting... We saw good things and were getting good information about the kit I was purchasing... and that's how it was right up until my credit card info was given over... Does me slinging mud help anything, maybe to a few close friends that are actually witnesses to what occurred... At this point, I'm just venting... and like I mentioned earlier, I've had literally dozens of people ask me privately via Pm or other methods, and I've steered them to other vendors that have proven their worth and customer support... My two favorites to send people to to this point are Hellion and IPS.

Finally, I'm not the kind to complain... Stuff happens, racecar... I've made two trips to the Texas Mile to set a 5th Gen record, racecar... I'll be going back in October schedule providing, and hopefully it'll work out...

Really sorry to hear about your experience there man. Mine couldn't be more different. I spent close to 20k on his twin turbo kit, an LS3 conversion, cam, and a race fuel system. Everything went fine...no troubles, car runs strong.
