Do trade in values vary that much

Basically I just went to my local Chevrolet dealer just to see what I can get for my pretty good condition 2000 z28 with 86k on it. I was expecting 5 to 6 thousand as a offer and depending on that I was thinking about getting a new Camaro but after he inspected and drove it he offers me 1500. I couldn't believe it which made me want to ask is this about what I can expect every dealer to offer me. Also does it matter if I print off my value from KBB that had it 5,700 fair.

You'll be better off selling privately. Dealerships, especially new car dealerships, aren't going to be interested in a 13 year old car unless it's super low miles.

My last dance at the rodeo had me trading in .

The trade-in booked at $5600, was offered $8000 at one dealer, and finally settled for $9300 at the one I ended up buying my Camaro at.
It is now up for sale on their lot for $10,750. After initially asking $13000

I had only paid 9100 for the car to begin with. I had haggled it down from 10,900.

This is what dealerships do.

Im thinking im about ready to give selling my car a shot for a upgrade to a newer Camaro. I still have less than 90k on my 2000 Camaro wondering should I just sell it privately .

Yes, you should sell privately. Most dealers will not offer you a fair price for your car. At the price range you're selling for, it shouldn't be hard to find potential buyers. I've sold many vehicles on Craigslist for more than your price range and it didn't cost me a dime to list. Most took anywhere from one day to two weeks to sell. Now that tax return season is upon us, it shouldn't be hard at all unless you don't have a clear title.

that probably will be a problem since I still finance it. So dealer might be my only choice

That's a rip off they'll sell your car for like 8 or 7,000 ! Probably for more than that I'm betting 9,000 is what the dealer will have it at! You should shop around for a better trade in value because you'll be surprise on how different dealers value your car!

Well in your case I would just find a place that have the camaro that you want and haggle them on everything. I mean your car price and the dealer car price and than just chunk it up as at least you got what you wanted.

Well I know from experience that when I was almost going to trade mines in for a SS , I had got a dealer down to 23,000 from 26,000 . One Guy recently just bought a ss for 19,000 That's what he said! So anything is possible just need to go to more than one dealer if need too .

First question would be why you want to trade a car in with 86k miles for another car with 50k miles. 50k could be a lot of hard mileage on one of these. I would spend the extra 4-5k and you could find a low mileage car and it would be worth it in my opinion.

How much do you owe on the Z-28? I bought my car from a guy who had a lien on it. He paid the note on the car down to what I was paying for it and the bank released the title to me. As long as you sell the car for more than what you owe, it shouldn't be a problem. Just make buyers aware of a lien on the vehicle. What you owe and let them know the bank will mail them title after they pay it off. The bank gets paid off then you pocket the difference.

For a 2010 I didnt think that was a lot of miles at 12k a year is average it would be 48k after 4 years so I wouldn't call them hard miles but you might night better than me. The reason I'm moving on from the z28 is just because it's old and outdated for me I mean it's 14 years old at this point. I'm hoping I get 5k for the car when I owe a lil over 4k for it so hopefully I'll be good
