Question Trading SS for 1LE help

I have a 2010 2SS/RS pre ordered car currently with 19k miles.
Recently I have been contemplating making the move into a newer model to enjoy the advancements in the build.. Not to mention an existing warranty.

I am currently looking at a loaded 2013 2SS/RS- 1LE.
I have checked a few dealers and it seems the ball park price would be my trade and 320-340 a month for 72 months. I know some will say i can make an 1le cheaper... But I don't get the advancements.. My link, HUD, backup assist etc or a warranty.
Is it worth the upgrade?

That is almost $25k Plus your car over the life of the loan. Is it worth it TO YOU!
If you like it, and are making the payments, go for it. You are the one that needs to enjoy what you buy.
It may be worth more than your 10, but that will be a long time down the road.

They are screwing you royal! 72 months is a long time to pay $340 a month. What are they giving you for a trade-in, about 20k? Run away from this deal and don't look back.

1LE is far more rare and SHOULD hold it's value better. Quite a few nice features added since 2010. i'd call it a good upgrade.

Disclaimer: I wouldn't trade my car for anything...

But I really wanted a '10 pretty much exactly like yours. And I feel like if I had it, I would still be saying I wouldn't trade my car for anything. The grass is always greener, right? So a 1LE would probably be a sweet ride, but if warranty was the only thing, I'd say put that $320 a month into savings for yourself, take repair bills out of the account for your current car, I bet you save more than you have to put out.

But if it's what you want then go for it.

The sticker on the 1LE is 44k invoice cost is about 41k

They are giving me 23k for my trade in plus paying off the 4k I owe.

I am trying to get another 1500 out of them but they won't move.

Its just a newer better car with more options. I love my 10 but mine also has a lot of problems and headaches, thought the 13 would be more reliable.

Don't buy anything with the hope that it will hold it's value better. New cars are depreciating assets. If you want something that holds it's value, buy a classic Camaro.

Does the payment include the tax, license and title? 25K is what you end up paying at 340 a month. Plus your car, which is worth ~25K (arbitrary as we cannot see actual condition). Is your trade coming off invoice or cost? Is it 27K total you getting for yours, or 23K and 4K is going to what you owe?

That last part has me interested. Mechanically your car and the 1le will have the same reliability at the same age unless you just have a lemon. What kind of headaches?

Personally if you are a hands on person build your 1le. That's what I'm doing and I'm even making it better. You will loose your arse upgrading and that warranty and HUD must be really important to you.

What's important to you? Are twisties your main concern? Are you brand loyal? For 42k or a bit more you could be driving a very low mileage 2012 GT500. For another $125.00 or so a month a used ZL1. Now that would be an upgrade

Backup camera and HUD are easy retrofits, and Offer is working on mylink as we speak, you can always wrap your hood and build your own 1LE.... its all up to you man. For me? No, I'd get some pedders under you car, 3.91 gears and pick up that HUD a memeber is selling for $330 right now. Of course, your title and badging will still say SS....

There are only two options in life. Fight or flight. Most people run. Almost all people run. But not us. The difference between us and everyone else is that we run towards the gunfire. And that makes all the difference.

I can only see 2 ways for it to be worth it..

1. you can sell it for more than you threw at it in the future

2. whatever figure you arrive at, for ownership, is something you won't regret.

I've seen where people have said if there was exclusivity then this car's worth would skyrocket.. I traded in my 2013 2LT for the 2SS/1LE and it was worth it to me because I can't put a number on having my dream car. To me its best exterior ever on a car with rear seats, and it's a look that I feel will stand the test of time.

I would also look into the following differences and see how much it would cost to add to your 2010

-retrofit HUD
-MyLink
-Backup Assist (I cant imagine reversing without one)

-installation for the above if you don't plan on doing it yourself

and also whichever of these you like

  • air-to-liquid cooling system lifted from the ZL1 (trans and oil coolers)
  • 20-inch wheels covered in Goodyear Eagle Supercar G:2 tires, 285 on all 4 corners
  • Improved wheel bearings (zl1)
  • Improved toe links
  • upgraded sub-frame bushes
  • Better rear shock mounts
  • rear monotube shocks
  • thicker antiroll bars(27mm front, 28mm rear)
  • strut-tower bar
  • beefed up the rear-axle half-shafts
  • ZL1's high-capacity fuel pump and additional fuel pickups were also added to prevent fuel starvation in hard-cornering situations.
  • matte-black hood
  • functional front splitter
  • rear spoiler
  • Oil catch can
  • red Brembo brake calipers
  • ZL1's flat-bottom, microfiber-covered steering wheel
  • short shifter topped with a microfiber shift knob.
I've heard that he's wrong about the catch can... people have said its a breather
