My thoughts are I don't care what other people run in their car.

Because you didn't have to mention his name in the first place to ask the question. Adding the emoticon for "respect" doesn't mean anything if not long afterwards you bash his logic by saying why buy a 45k car and filling it with 87 and asking for comments. You already know what most are going to respond.

Its all good. I'm not offended. We all have opinions, and I'm always up for a good debate. After all...its my $...I get to do what I want to with it.

I never bashed his logic or anything of the sort. I asked if others have heard of people strictly using 87 in their SS's. Eh, whatever. No big deal.

So I caved and tried putting in 93 and did the fuse pull overnight....I don't notice a difference...is it that noticeable? Idk...seems like a waste.

I've heard / read several threads on whether or not running on 89 or lower will cause harm to the engine and its components and I have seen mixed opinions.

However, does saving $3-$6 each fill up provide enough justification for me to gamble with these types of odds. No....no it does not. I ONLY use Shell V-Power 93 Octane fuel for my 2SS and my 2SS thanks me for that.

But I'm wondering if there really is a 30-40 HP difference like people are claiming....I WOULD be able to feel 30-40 HP...5or10...not really.

you can compare the 0-60 times, there will be a difference. that's partly how the fuse pull mod was verified.

Why waste your money on diesel?!
Go to a Military Base and buy Jet Fuel! Man I noticed a huge difference and dyno like 100HP! More!

I'm not trying to call this guy out (suzook), but he claims he runs 87 in his SS all the time because most gas stations have 87 in their 93 pumps anyways. Also, he claims it doesn't make that big of a difference in performance. Does anybody else do it? I've always run 93 in mine from day one and read all about the fuse pull. If folks are trying to save money, why not just buy a V6 and run 87 all day? You buy a $45 SS, then fill it with 87 to pinch a few pennies? What are your thoughts?
DRKS1D3,

In my Impala SS it specifically say you can run 87 in the engine with reduced performance results. I always run 91 according to the manual.

Recently I also bought a new Camaro 2LT/RS and it runs fine with 87 but once per month I'll run 89.

If that guy wants to run 87 in his SS then he could with mixed results in performance. If it pings when he hits the gas well that's another thing. I hate pinging in my motors so that's why I prefer the higher octane if I can afford it.

Military jet fuel, ex JP8, is pretty much diesel with additives, and I know you are messing around. Just a little info
