Now that I have the Range AFM Disable device, mostly "D". I'll pop it into "S" mode now and then for less than interstate driving. Very rarely use the paddle ("M") mode.

my imp ss I manual shift it too most the time lol.
I have CFDs pistol grip shifter and using it is like rowing a manual like I used to do pre-accident with my earlier stick cars.
intuitive and it works better than the paddle shifters.
I like how the PCM blips the throttle on downshifts too

I actually wish I had a manual. If I trade up, it will be.

I was actually going to mention that.

If I had an auto, I wouldn't be considering the Z/28

someone educate me...

I've exclusively driven in "D", with my 2LT automatic.

I've never owned a manual car, let alone driven one. That being said, I've also never used paddle shifters.

I see many talking about using "S" mode in the city, while on the highway use "D"..

few questions (i'm a dummy, cars aren't really my hobby moreover just a nice car that i happen to like)

1.) Manual. If I were to switch into Manual mode in my Automatic, how exactly...do I drive the damn thing? LOL again I've never driven a manual or know how to, so if I ever feel adventurous I'd like to know exactly how to shift, when to shift, which paddles to use and when, etc.

2.) Sport mode. What exactly is this? What's the difference between sport mode and normal 'drive' mode? I do a lot of city driving, is it better to be in S mode? Do I have to shift in this mode, or is it essentially still an automatic in this mode?

3.) Traction control - when is it beneficial to use this and to not use it? I do not race, probably never will. Although, there are times I do want to pass some people on the highway - is it beneficial to turn this off to gain speed or something?

yes, i'm a noob. shame me all you want

Guess I'm one of the few.

Startup routine:

Foot on brake.
Insert key.
Turn key.
Shift to "M"
Tap "+" shift paddle once.
Off brake. Ease on throttle.

Is it the stop and go that's bad? I have a short 8 mile commute. I guess I could deal with it.

This is how I drive. Makes the L99 a little more fun.

Before I put on my exhaust I mostly drove in D, since then I usually drop it into Sport for general driving and when in town or the backroads I drive in Manual, on the highway I am usually in Drive.

I'd say...

60% in M mode - usually on highway so my car doesn't down-shift when unnecessary.
30% is S mode - around town, commuting to school.
10% in D mode - usually when I'm babying my car lol.
