Road course this weekend

I'm running my car this weekend on the road course at NOLA Motorsports this weekend. I have the X/A coilovers, any Ideas on a good place to start on the settings.

I'm told the track is really smooth so don't be afraid to stiffen them up. I can't help you with exact numbers or personal experience but based on advice I was given I'd probably start at 25ish and see how that goes.

I hope to get out there soon myself.

The tires are, General GMax in the stock size, I think the alignment is aggressive. The sways are full stiff on the back, and one hole on passenger side from full soft on the front.

Depends on tires, corner balance, air pressure, track design, surface quality, etc. but somewhere around 20 or 25 should be a good start. Some front bias will need to be adjusted but that is very dependant on your specific car. some tire chalk and a heat probe are also useful in getting your settings dialed in.

set the fronts to 16 from full soft or hard. You'll end up in the same place. In the rear count down 12 from full hard. If you feel more push than you like, make the rears a couple of clicks harder.

Start your tire pressures at 32 cold. You don't want to run more that 40 or 42 hot. After the first session while hot, check the pressures and bleed down to 40. If under 40 add air and you'll be very close. to the target pressures at the end of your next session.

Be Safe. Be Fast.

Tire pressures are at 34 now and I will drive the car there(about an hour and fifteen mins.) so I will get them hot and will be able to adjust them then.

The tires are what's gonna decide what I can run on, until I can get better wheels and tires.

Yup. Not gonna lie you have really bad tires for a road course...the tires wont be happy if you push it. Which is a good thing because you will find the cars limit (because of the tires) and learn how to drive withen said limits.

The tires were the weak link, like I thought, at 34 lbs cold they ended up at the end of the run at 40, I had the rear coilovers at 18 and the fronts at 16, the instructor was impressed with the handling of the car. Not so much with the driver. LOL, JK he recommended that I was ready for solo driving. I had a great time, the car carry's a lot of speed and takes time to slow it down, coming out of turn 16 down the front stretch I topped out at 128mph in 4th gear(my car is an A6). I started braking around the 300' mark.

You could get less expensive rims say Forgestars and get more expensive tires say Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Although I cant confirm this would be any better than Pedders Suggestion. I can say it put a smile on my face.

Just the cost is a little for a daily driver.

19X?? is the way to go though.

I have 20X9.5 with mich pss 275 fronts weight on a scale was 55 lbs rim and tire. With 19's it would be lower

I like the Michelins, and I've read the Book, so I'm gonna have to save some money for the wheels and tires. Then the Brake upgrade. The CTSV brakes with slotted rotors. Definitely 19's to race and the same size all the way around. Pete, I already have the Camaro Track 2 X/A, beside the supercar coilovers what's left? LOL

I really hate to throw this out there. But, watching this and watching a dude/dudette run a sub 9 sec in the 1320'. There is no comparison. To each his/her own. Thanks Pedders for this inspiring clip. I feel alive again! Time to learn to drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ECR watch out for major noobness!
