1,000whp+ GT500 taken down by C63

I'd love to own one of these modded AMG's just to hurt people feelings.

I wouldn't want to be his passenger or on the track with him.I think he should be more concentrated on whats in front, and on his driving rather whats on his side.

In front there should only be an empty track...

To me it's actually proof that he is playing with the Mustang instead of going absolutely flat out...

Might have been a different outcome there, if the Z06 didn't break traction (driver being a bit over-excited with the throttle, after which he seems to ease down?)

From the owner

"I own the AMG C63 Black Series in the video as well as a 900whp CLK63 Black Series. My CLK was the second fastest car at the event, I lost to a 1000whp Nissan GT-R. My C was the third quickest car at the event only losing to my CLK and the GT-R(and a 1000hp tt Z06 that kept leaving VERY early by a car or two and I only lost by a half car, so in my eyes I won)

All day i was being called a sandbagger for claiming the C only makes 660whp. My C BS in this video is only making and honest 660whp, not sure how I handled the 1000hp Shelby with relative ease but it happened. Traction was not good and they did not allow burnouts and everyone was spinning at the line pretty badly. Rumor at the track is(Shelby owners friends talking) that the car dyno'd the day before the event at 960whp...not sure I believe that or not. Driver himself put 1000hp on the door of his car.

For the record my C is a 10.50 on DR's and traps at about 139 in the 1/4. These Weistec AMG motors make all their power at the big end and the top half of the power band and they redline over 7200rpm. The AMG 7-speed MCT tranny(automatic or paddle shift) is a thing of amazement and shifts faster than you could ever imagine and is the biggest reason I can beat down cars with more HP."

The AMG's at the wannagofast event in chicago last month were killing almost anything they went up against.

You can see the Mustang losing space at every gear change. The automatic shifter was key, as the driver admitted.

It's cool. From now on, the Shelby owner will just wave his dyno sheet around.

But yeah, anytime I see a video of a modded AMG, it looks like the Enterprise going into warp.

You are referencing a totally different car with a totally different engine and induction system.

Why would it hurt feelings? It's a 65k+ performance sedan.

If you want to hurt feelings, then buy a gutted, LS3 turbo Miata.

660whp has to be on a very conservative dyno. They weigh what, 3600-3700 lbs? 139mph trap on 660whp at that weight is fast. Definitely not Dynojet numbers.

There's no such thing as a conservative dyno.

There is however such a thing as a dyno operator that manipulates the factors on his mustang dyno, which can make it say anything.

.

Different dyno manufacturers use different methodology to derive horsepower and torque. Especially with turbocharged cars you will see different results with water-brake, inertia, and electric dynos. Load will affect spool and thus impact charge air temperatures at peak boost as well. You can do all the calibrating in the world and not get inertia and load-bearing to read identical without seriously fudging some numbers, especially on high horsepower turbocharged cars.

GT500 could have been built as a dyno-queen. If that's the case then you can expect it to lose to numerous other cars with far less HP. I've seen 800hp Supras routinely disappoint in the 1/4 mile because they aren't built for speed, they're built for glorified dyno sheets.

Because a gutted LS3 turbo Miata looks and sounds like a race car, not like the stock looking AMG's that are roaming around California and would still probably loose considering this AMG didn't loose to that C6Z with a twin turbo LS7 with methanol injection.

If the 660whp C63 still isn't enough then the owner can always take out his 900whp+ CLS he mentioned to combat all those pesky turbo Miata's dominating the texas invitational and other sanctioned roll race events.

I'm fully aware that a vehicle with a power adder that requires load to operate will read weird on different dynos. What I'm saying is that I take dyno numbers with a grain of salt these days. Too many people want either money shot numbers, manipulated numbers (claiming to do more with less) and those who want real world figures. Thanks to the first two the last one is quite rare as most operators have settings to suit the most popular bullshit numbers.

This is off topic but are you from Chico? Gotta love the Sierra Nevada brewery!
