Yep. That's true. $349 for a seat of pro racer. I was going to do that for the longest time, then thought better of it.

I haven't heard much at all about their forum other than it's Ford-biased. I wouldn't know though because it's locked to the public!

A friend of mine was basically forced into SCT for his new 5.0 since HPT doesn't support it. He was not too pleased since he's used HPT for 5 years.

Everything I have read/learned thus far has been HPT based. The concepts are difficult enough for a newbie... I definitely don't want to try and translate it to another software that I've never seen before, can't get a demo of, and can't see the help resource I'll have access to once purchased. I'm sure it works great... but I'll never find out.

Try searching "VE table SCT pro racer". Not very encouraging .

You can't directly massage our VE tables, it's a virtual calc thing. There is software for calculating the 4 or 5 dimensions needed. Never tried. You can upgrade the ECU OS to a special one with a real VE table if you desire for another 2 or 3 credits.

I plugged in the ID850 data and tuned the MAF. Stock internals.

Interesting. So what would be the real benefits of blowing the credits and getting a real VE table then? The ability to smooth the data over? I understand roughly how it works. Monitor changes and amounts in the fuel trims, then adjust cells working the hardest, rinse and repeat.

I guess you could accomplish the same thing by factoring the data yourself. Maybe that's what you mean when you say it's a virtual calc thing.

Its 2 credits and the benefits are outlined here

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...evtest-results

Basically makes tuning alot easier whether for boosted applications or NA, also extends your fan temp table.

HPTuners hands-down... The interface is better IMO, but the SCT interface is also nice. However, with SCT you'll need to purchase their custom tuning software (If you want to go further than the small things that a handheld can change) + the handheld, rather than with HPT you are in when you just buy the suite (No handheld required).

We are an HPTuners reseller with an awesome sale going on now that includes a free custom tune. So you can compare off of what I changed from your factory file, to the custom file, and see what changes have been made to start learning.

Thanks Bill, as always.

I'll upgrade someday, just haven't popped for more credits yet. I figured when I go with a cam I'll need to. The temp settings for the fan would be a big plus also. Lowest stock turn on point is 192*f iirc.

Birm already got to me . I have a few more rough weeks to get through with the kid going off to college, then my SCT handheld to sell off, then it's business time.

I was wondering if you left your tune unlocked so I could use it as a reference agains the stock tune. Good to know.

This is all good news I'm excited to learn this part about modding. Ive basically just been a monkey wrencher and left the tunes to Mike at Straightline! Who is awesome and would give me bits and pieces of info here and there. But now I have my own software and a newbie to boot! Lol I'm anxious to learn so please don't hold back and tell it to me how it is lol.

Matt any word on any tracking info for me?

well ALL I can say is WOW, two things. One I have a vararam and watching those IAT's rising is NO JOKE, luckily they go down very quickly with little movement and I cant wait to see how my cousins L99 does with his CAI, now im not starting a CAI debate so don't start with that, all Im saying is Im curious, Im no tuner just starting. Two MATT at FSP was emailing me back and forth SATURDAY NIGHT! at 10:30 Central time, what a guy commited to Customer service, I was impressed to say the least. Thanks MATT and BIRM you guys go above and beyond in my book!

I installed TSP 2" long tubes on my cousins car today, I deleted all the DTC codes related to the rear 02's, I deleted the damn AFM/ DOD peramiters, I tweaked his mafs tables a lil, tweaked his TQ management some all by my self today. I uploaded his new tune and went for some data logging. No check engine lights and AFM never kicked in lol. I think I did ok lol. Man was I sweating up a storm. I was nervous lol

Anyone with the AEM UEGO wideband know about how long the 4 pin output pigtail is that comes with the gauge?

Mine are about 18" - 24" I would measure them but it is already installed. I guess you are talking about the loose wires, not the ready to connect ones.

Correct. Thanks for the insight. I'm trying to rig up cables for litle and I to run our widebands into the A/C pressure sensor. I needed to know whether or not I have to make a longer pigtail for that output cable. Sounds like I do! We actually stock those 4 pin connectors at work... so that's no big deal.

I wish there would have been more folks willing to share on here when I bought my SS two years ago. No one would, so learning the E38 and T43 took a bit of time.....and I had tuned dozens of LT1, LS1, and LS2 vehicles.

It would be great if some of the more experienced guys would start sharing some nuggets and tibdits with the guys just learning on here. I know I will.
Hey litle, maybe you need to start an HPTuners newbie lounge in here. lol
