What do you think about doing this on Plasti-dipped rims? I want to plasti-dip mine but would like some orange so was thinking about doing plasti-dip then using this to do the orange pinstripe and the bowtie.

When I replace my tires, I will order "Red" ones to see if they're a better match.
How did you do the bowtie?

I bought these a while ago and haven't put them on. I just got new tires, so I guess the time is now! Thanks for the DIY tips.

It can, depending on the curbrash, but you could sand the curb rash smooth, and the vinyl will go right over it. If you are handy enough, you could use a little bondo to fill in gouges. too

Go down a few posts on this build thread. Post 3 has the pics that made me do mine. Plasti dipped.

Do it! After the tires are mounted, as the mounting thing can scrape the edge and knock the strip off.

Great idea by OP!
I just used 1/8" detail tape (most auto parts stores for $5) instead of the wider 1/4" tape and am very satisfied with the results after more than 2 months. Take your time and you only end up with one seam per wheel. Thanks for the original idea!

How has the durability been on these for those of you who have installed them? Also how important is it to wrap I around vs just having them on the edge of the wheel? I saw in an earlier post to ensure u buy big enough to wrap around but wasn't sure if it was so it can stick better

Ive had them a year, all still going strong! Definitely durable.

Wraping around is simply so you dont see the original wheel color over the vinyl, which will happen if you do not wrap a little.

It has nothing to do with adhering better. Although, if you get the same ones I did, and dont wrap around a little on the stock rims, then you will run into little gaps each time you get to a spoke. Hard to explain, just buy them and try (they send extra so you can try a strip both ways and see what you like)

You actually have like three options for places to put them, you can go on the inside face that has "Camaro" wrriten on it too. You could also run them on the inside of the rim that runs at a 90 degree angle to the "camaro" surface, just behind the spokes.

If you dont understand what im talking about, i can try to elaborate, hard to type what I mean
I gave it a shot. The lips on the ZL1 wheels posed a bit of a challenge. It was tough getting enough pinstrip in the corner of each lip. Can't say I got every single lip perfect but overall I'm pleased with the results. Even if it all comes peeling off tomorrow, all I'm out is $9 and a few hours of my time.

Looks great! Interested to see how it holds up on the lip parts.

Great job!
