So...back to the track.....

22 more passes, and 60's ranged from 1.69 to 1.93 and were so inconsistent that it was driving me crazy. The NT05R's on the car aren't that old, have plenty of tread, and appear to be in good shape. But they just aren't getting it done.

ET's were between 11.79 and 12.20 and MPH ranged from 113.7 to 115.3 in DA's that varied from 49' to 1383'.

And again, I'm still fighting some kind of torque management issue around 5000rpm in first gear. It almost looked like wheelspin was kicking in, and with the issue with the tires it's certainly possible.

Enter Mickey Thompson and their ET Street Radial II's. Same size again, 305/45-18 and on the same Whiteside Customs 18x10.5 wheels.
I'm not really a fan of black wheels as I think they sort of disappear on the car, but for drag wheels......good enough.





These things fit the 10.5" wheel perfect IMO.
The NT05R's that were on it before almost looked like they were a little too wide for the rim. I wish I had a pic, it'd be easy to see.

With the M/T's mounted and Texas Motorplex open it was time to see what would happen.
3 passes:
1.71, 1.70, 1.72 and 11.93, 11.91, and 11.91. Consistent? Yep. But I know there's more there. These passes were in DA that was between 950' and 1000' so there's an easy tenth left in the weather.

A few weeks later after tweaking the tune, playing with shift points, and hoping that the new drag radials would wear in a little bit with a few street miles on them it was back to the track.
DA started at 468' and ended at -288'. Perfect night here in north Texas. And the car responded.



60's were 1.68, 1.64, 1.63, 1.63, and 1.63. ET's were just as consistent going from 11.70 down to the 11.61 above and mph was as high as 115.7.

I would have loved to have seen a 59, but the 61 is awesome. I'll take it.

Maybe some skinnies, a lockup converter, and ported intake would be worth another 2 tenths. An 11.4x car?
And I'm 270lbs. So with a 170lb drive the car should be an easy 11.4x?

Or I could do what I'd always intended with the car and call it good enough as-is. I had always intended on putting a blower on this car.
First I wanted a Maggie, then maybe a Whipple so I had a little bit of room to grow, then really liked the ECS kit, and now seeing the AGP twin turbo kit come out.......
So basically I don't know what I want to do.

But what I do know is that no matter what I do as far as FI goes, it's just going to be the start of spending more and more and more money and that eventually this thing would get turned into a race car. And that's not at all what I wanted.
All I wanted was a 10 second capable daily driver.

So it's either spend money on the FI, then the fuel system, then the trans, then know that the rear end wasn't going to last long, and on, and on, and on......and money pit.

So after shootiing a few emails back and forth with Andy at ADM Performance about what to do next, I asked Andy a very simple question....
Am I better off moving up to a ZL1 if I want a 10 second capable daily driver?
Andy's answer...."yes"

Um, well....ok

So how about this one?
