There is a stretch bra one of our club members uses and she swears by it. Easy on & off, sort of translucent & not horrible looking, but rather pricey as I recall. I just put on a fresh coat of detailer & they come off pretty easily.

Plastidip "Glossifier"" is a gloss clearcoat for Plastidip. It ends up with more of a satin finish rather than glossy like they claim, but it is clear and peels off just like normal Plastidip. This has the additional benefit of protecting from small rock chips vs. oil or paint sealant. The more coats you apply, the better the protection, and the glossier it gets (to a point). Quickly mask off the areas that you don't want coated (remove masking while still wet). Just peel it off when you're done.

I've never had that problem in 15 years. Maybe I've been using special dryer sheets?

Just give it a really good wax job before the drive and it should come off with no issue once you get there. If you're worried Painters tape works great, it just takes some time.

I just had the nose, headlights, foglights, window pillars, mirrors, rockers, gills and lower quarters done in Expel ultimate. Cost me $1400 installed with taxes (Canadian). I love it. Bugs wipe off, no more chips either. You can't tell it is on there except I did the GFx with matte expel.

I've seen so many people get that temporary film every year when they drive to the Fest and it's usually the same story when they get there... it was a pain to put on, didn't stay on, and they got frustrated and threw it away.

I do have a clear bra on my car. Best way to chips away. But was far as bugs go, a good coat of wax helps make them easier to wash off when you get there. Take some glass cleaner, waterless wash and detail spray for when you there.

Has anyone used clear packing tape? I have several rolls of 2" wide clear packing tape but I don't want a bunch of glue or residue on the car when I pull it off.

Don't even think about it. if that stuff bakes on in the sun you'll have a royal mess on your hands.

And then when you get there, take them back off and use them to spend hours scrubbing all those hardened paint-eating bugs guts off.

A fresh coat of Quick Sealant is the quickest and easiest way. When using tape, you always run the risk of leaving behind adhesive, and that will be way worse than removing some bugs.

For the bugs that may be stubborn, our Waterless Wash has emulsifiers in it that will actually soften the bug guts and they will wipe off without scratching your paint.

When the lanes 90deg turn into the final approach-stay back, otherwise the car's side can get a good spraying.
The most chips I ever got at one time was while road-racing....Miata's kick up a ton of debris for having such skinny tires.......of course, following as close as I was, eager to pass, didn't help......

It's plastic...imho - it won't rust, so I'm not too worried about it.

...That said - I did do what I never thought I would....I've taped up the front of my car for the journey....though not all of it. Just my new bow-tie...the paint is still pretty fresh to go flying 70mph+ through the air.

that doesn't sound like a miata... it's not like your hurting for power to get around, you only have 5x as much, you could probably stay off a little way until a straight.
