Front strut mount

I recently installed lowering springs add everything went great. However, I noticed today that the flange on the top of the strut floats freely. Should I be concerned?

Is this what you are talking about? It is completely normal.

I drove mine for a year before trading it with no issues. My 1LE isn't lowered but looks like that at the towers.

Like everyone else said that is normal and it should look like that. The large retaining washer you are talking about actually pivots back and forth when you turn the steering wheel so that space there gives it room to move without it binding.

If they spin than the nut isn't tight enough on the top of the retaining washer. That retaining washer should not spin at all.
