In any case, what Reuss is talking about is starting to sound less like a specific product but more a new modular platform that will be utilized across all brands.

I think what you said before about a new 2nd gen concept Volt riding on a new lighter modular platform sounds pretty reasonable to me.

But isn't that was Alpha is....a lighter modular platform??

I don't think what will be shown will be a new model either (aside from the Colorado/Canyon which sounds like it may get a diesel engine option).

Something new hot and dramatic at the LA Auto Show?

Alpha based Chevelle would be new, hot and dramatic...

I think they are going to introduce a FRS/BRZ fighter...something for a younger generation. That is affordable and fun to drive.

How many total cars have they built this year compared to GM, Ford or Chrysler?
The fewer cars you build you have more time for each one.

The big 3 have probably built about a thousand between them for every 1 that Tesla has this year.

And the less experience you have building cars, the more time you need.

In case anyone was wondering when this thing was going to debut.

Can't wait.

If all goes well, next year we'll be in a new 2015!

If I were GM, I would be watching intently to see how Tesla's venture into direct sales (instead of having licensed dealers) works out.

If you can get rid of the middle man (read: vultures) and sell your product directly to the customer, you have much more control over quality and customer satisfaction...

So if you get rid of the middleman, (dealers) who do you take your car to for warranty work? Where do you go for test drives, or just to look at the different models or colors in person?
I can see more issues being a problem than it would solve.

Dealership franchise laws get in the way of that. Tesla is only barely managing to tip-toe around them, and at least one (Texas) has banned them from selling cars.
