AAC, do you know how you could make it that when you turn the parking lights on, only the rings come on, not your tail lights? But, when you get on the brakes, you tail lights come on? Or when you use the turnsignals, your bulbs come on.

is this possible?

Yes, this is possible. You will want to take the bulbs out of the housings and clip off the inner most pin on the bulbs; this will disable the parking light part of the bulb and your afterburner tail light halos will only be on with your parking lights.

Feel free to give me or one of our techs a call because I can explain this better over the phone.

I understand. I think thats a great way to do it, that way if you mess up, you only need to buy a new bulb.

Now, if you guys do the installation, is there any addition wiring that will be needed or is it just put the housings back into the car and plug it in?

Also, I see that you now have plasma. How is that brightness wise compared to SMD and CCFL? Do you have any closeup shots of them?

If you send us your tail lights with the bulbs in them we can modify them here for you. When you get the tail lights back you will have to wire the halos up to your parking lights and you are ready to rock and roll.

How does one wire it into the parking lights though?

Also, the plasma looks very much like a neon. What is the life expectancy of plasma? How do you know the ring is going bad?

You will tap the power wire from the halo ring into the power wire for your parking lights on your car using t-taps and tap the ground wire into the ground wire on the car using t-taps.

Here is an explanation of the Plasma rings:

I can't seem to get the video to work. Not on my work computer or iphone.

Also, if you cut the tap off of the light, won't the DIC bring up the message that there is a tail light out?

The instructions that come with it are good and make sense when you get them. On each taillight, you tap or splice into the parking light wire and the ground wire, one splice or tap connector on each, so that's 2 per taillight. On both passenger taillights, the red plasma afterburner wire goes to the brown parking light wire on the light bulb harness, and the black ground plasma afterbuner wire goes to the black ground wire on the taillight bulb harness. On the drivers side, the wiring is the same except the parking lamp wire is purple not brown. So, the red afterburner wire would tap/splice into the purple light bulb harness wire. Now, this was my experience and your light wire colors may be different than mine, so I assume no responsibility for damage that may occur by use of any or all said information . Refer to the guys at AAC to ensure you have the correct information.

To answer the question regarding cutting off the tap, no, it shouldn't bring up a message saying the taillight is out since you aren't slicing all the way through the light wire. The tap is supposed to go only deep enough to allow the metal to contact the wire by going past the insulation. If you ever remove the taps, it would be good measure to look at the integrity of the wire you tapped into. If it looks like the wires are in perfect condition, the cover them up with electrical tape, or the brush on wire insulation. If the wire lost its integrity, solder it back together and shrink wrap it and the wire is as good as new.

Here are my CCFL afterburners in my 2SS. After reading about dropping the running lights and only using the afterburners as the running lights, these lights are awesome!!!!! Only realized this after 6 months!!! hahahaha.

Makes a big difference right? Easy mod, we recommend clipping the factory bulbs for sure with these afterburners
