We toyed with the idea of adding pearl to the base white to amke it somewhat distinct. Three test panels were shot with different amounts of pearl. Although it looked great, it would have been a departure from G5.R mechanical racy theme. After much contemplation, we stayed with the factory Summit White and glad we did. As expensive as the paint work is, it would have been nice to distinct it. Most people wont even know it's been repainted. For the folks in the know, they will be able to tell theres no orange peel. Unfortunately most people don't even know what orange peel is, LOL.

Next year we are planning to be back to SEMA if we get an invitation for the Optima Challenge. For a refresh, we are planning on updating the look with the Z/28 body panels (hood, front fascia, rockers, rear diffuser, trunk, rear spoiler and flares) with the Z/28 components. I just think the Z/28 style will look great in white with all the trimming in black.

Unfortunately this means that all the carbon fiber panels we had made (ZL1 diffuser, ZL1 rockers, ZL1 rear spoiler 1LE splitter plus the trunk and hood) will have to go. Kinda disappointed about getting rid of my hood as its a beautiful piece, 100% dry carbon both inside and out. The weave is gorgeous! Currently its getting clear coated. So far it has 12 coats of clear on the underside alone. We did this to fill in some pin holes that you in the carbon. I need to go by next week to give the green flag that we are satisfied and finally it will get two more coat of clear with a minimal amount of flatting agent to give it a satin look. The hood alone was $3,200 on I'm going on time and material on the paint so how know how much we'll have into the hood alone when done.

What kind of cooling system do you have for your credit cards?! They must be visible from the space station by now lol.

Can't wait to see this finished but I'm also going to hate to see it get dirty. You've put so much work into this it really should be showcased under glass in a museum somewhere.

Great job you guys...just unbelievably freakin great!

I thought about converting mine to the new Z28 look as it makes the car look like a track car which I love and of course it would fit your car perfectly.

See you at Sema just 19 day's away.

Hey Marty! I agree the Z/28 has a look like no other! I which GM would had released it sooner so that we could had redone all those pieces in carbon.

In the meantime, we had the ZL! rear spoiler, diffuser, rocker and the 1LE diffuser made out of carbon.

Then it looks like we need to convince him to cut off the roof. Heck the Ring Borthers did it on there Mustang Shop car. I say we convince Nathan to cut the roof off and make it in Carbon.

ps - Anyone know who owns the Yellow Camaro with the Carbon Fiber Vented Fenders that lives in the Downers Grove, IL area. I have tried to catch him a few times but no success. I would really like to talk to him about the fenders.

We were planning on cutting off the roof but just ran out of time. Funny you mention the Ring boys, they were going to get a ZL1 from GM for a SEMA project and we were hoping if they did, we could get a roof from them but unfortunately by the time GM agreed, the boys didn't have the time to take on the project

Quick update:

We are definitely feeling the SEMA crunch.......... paint is behind schedule but we had the man of the hour "Tony" work Saturday and Sunday to give us a much needed push!!!

Tony is definitely the most VIP of the paint process as most anybody could lay paint but it takes an artist to cut, buff and polish and give you a piano finish.

Here are a few pics of the carbon rockers being test fitted. They still need to be painted and the carbon exposed areas will be tone done to a satin clear finish. These carbon pieces just take G5.R to a new level.
