Um yeah?! Why would they even think of that? Strange. They'll also up the fee.

Somebody has to pay for this stupid idea. Why not the car owner?

In Ontario, we now have patrol cars equipped with License Plate Readers (patented in 1984?) that immediately scan a plate (fronts especially!), pulls up the owner info/history, any want 'n warrants, AND CONFIRMS WHETHER THE VEHICLE HAS VALID INSURANCE!! Anything out of order gets the driver a roadside consultation...

Did I mention 1984?

Maybe, with NSA and Patriot Act and everything else, MI is getting ready for something similar. All that potential indirect taxation can't be a bad thing...

P.S. I agree with the insurance confirmation, but don't get caught taking your winter-stored car for a warm-up lap, mid-winter!!! Up to $10,000 FINE if no road coverage! When I drop road coverage at storage time, I get a letter, within two weeks, from the Ministry of Transportation advising me of my lack of coverage and "Do NOT get caught on the road with this vehicle" sort of verbiage... You're just a "scan 'n BEEEEEP!" away from serious financial harm.

There's a persistent rumor Lincoln will get the S550 platform (why'd they name a platform this size after an M-B hi-roller?!) and a 4-dr will ensue. Maybe a "Mark IX" 2-dr reincarnate, too?

God knows, Lincoln needs help...

Would very curious to see the 5 year plan for Lincoln. They clearly need something.

For a lot of people it still boils down to how much can I get for my money.

Also a story, Mrs. Number 3 was Marketing Manager on the C5 Corvette. Early clinics were "CUP HOLDERS!!!!!!! NO ONE drinks in my Corvette. Why would I even want one cup holder". But when the car launched one of the biggest complaints was "the cup holders in this car SUCK". LOL.

For the Camaro to succeed, I've always suggested it needs to be the best coupe you can buy...............PERIOD. It should be so good that Honda and Nissan have to quit selling Accord and Altima coupes. And yet it should blow a Mustang into the weeds with ease.

I just look at the Impala. Look how good that car is....................but how good could that car be if it had the Hiper strut front suspension, linked H-arm rear suspension ANNNNNNNND the 3.6L TT engine. It would go from very good to GREAT.
Translation.

Municipalities are looking for ways to make money. It gives traffic cameras a second chance to snag the pictures. Also, the new "license plate readers" installed on police cars and other places are 100% more effective if they have two plates to catch images on when looking for plates/owners with outstanding warrants/tickets, or stolen vehicles, etc.

I got pulled over in my company delivery truck because the insurance expired and the cops ran my license plates. Apparently that all pops up when they do.
