My 2 cents... 2800 will give you stock driveability, 3200 will give you very near stock driveability. I've had both and prefer the 3200 stall in my Protorque converter.

Never driven a stalled car, but just don't want jerking when cruising

Probably a nice single disc like jre's pro torque in a 3-3200ish flavor would feel stock. But u leave a lot on the table from my experience. Still an upgrade for sure though.

ive never driven a stalled car either. is that the worry? jerking while driving? i keep reading about drivability but never really knew what the actual issue's are.

I have a Circle D 3200 in my car, it's a little noticeable. A 2800 would not be noticeable at all, but I think the performance gain of the 3200 makes it the one I would go with.

Tuning the car for the converter makes me suggest you use a shop that does a lot of work with these cars, or someone who does remote tuning and knows what they are doing... Rhino79 comes to mind.

I agree, the tuning of when it locks up and how harsh will make the driving smooth. The amount of slippage is based on the stator and I'd talk to Circle D about what you want exactly, hope that helps. A converter is just like a cam, there is always a trade off...key is finding that happy medium for your personal taste, as we all know opinions vary.

Tuning a stalled 6L80E combo does take some work. Tuners will adjust when the converter locks and unlocks, otherwise it could jerk and be otherwise noticeable.

If you go from a stock converter to say a 3200 like mine, you'd want to move up the MPH at which the converter locks during regular driving and WOT. The stock converter locks pretty quick when you are cruising.

I've had to have the point where my converter unlocks changed twice because it was disengage too low and it jerk the car.

My suggestion is to use a tuner who really knows these heavy but potentially fast cars...

I think you've made a wise choice on both counts.

12.37@112.5 1.85 stock stall, -488 DA
12.06@110.6 1.70 Circle D 3200 stall, 80 DA (have gone 113.5 MPH on other runs, I was trying an experiment with converter lock up)

So the difference is over 3 tenths, I would say 4. A few other changes, so I'll attribute 3 tenths to the converter and the other tenth to the ported intake.
