I liked racing at NLR in the past Mike, I could be up for that at some point.

It's pouring here and 57 here. I can try to get out Friday or it's going to be the week after next, I am going to Frankfurt Germany for work next week Wed - Sun.

Rhino, what do you think about a A pattern tune that locks up at WOT and a B pattern tune that does not? My theory is that the stock 3.27's + 28.6 tires runs way more mph when it hooks up, so if i run again soon and let's say I creep into the 1.65-1.68 range 60 foot the mph might still be low.

I find comparing slips interesting, more than watching TV.

I'm right in the middle of these guys for 60ft and 1/8th MPH.

Well if i compare your combo to mine, you have a 3.70 gear, and we might be around the same weight. You have skinnies but I have lighter mufflers on mine (4 lbs vs 24 lbs for stockers). With your Hoosier slicks are you are able to go WOT no playing around. 1.79 I've been 1.85 with stock converter and with a slick I believe I would have 60'd around the same. Come out harder, more gear, works.

Me... 3200 stall, haven't been able to fully take advantage of what admittedly is in my book not a lot of stall (I've run 3200 to 5500 in recent years in cars), 3.27 gear, and looks like my 305/45R18's are 28.8 tall. What I would advise myself to do is run skinnies, slicks, and 3.70 - 3.91 gear. If I kept my current drag radials I would tell me to try a 3.91. I'm thinking there is an 11.8@115 in the car which is impressive to me for the weight. We had stock internal 4th gens with skinnies and seats out going low 12's 10 years ago, and once folks got more serious they went high 11's and a few guys even went high 10's (two guys I believe but one of them was horrendously gutted).

edit

So I looked at slips from last weekend and then the trip at GLD before then. Between the two, I lost 1 to 1.5 MPH maybe due to locking the converter but compared to you guys I'm running the least amount of gear and the tallest tires. But maybe if I try non-locked, maybe see if Rhino is interested in upping some shift points, maybe it will even run 91mph in the 1/8th.

John back when I was still running 3.27's I went 11.90 with no converter lockup. You will cross at a higher rpm due to the slippage in the converter thru the last gear.

I then tried locking in 4th gear and picked up 1-1.5 mph vs unlocked. I also gained .05 in ET by locking.
I think your converter locking is ok. You can play with how early or late you lock, but I don't think unlocking is gonna drive you up unless your converter has a very low slippage?
I think what you need is to pull ur 60ft down to a 1.60 and that's only gonna happen with great track prep and good rubber laid down before you without some street car ripping the track up or dripping water from their tires.
Let Rhino look at your log to see if your car is pulling any timing up top. False knock possibly?

Yeah but Jeff you are running a 3600 and the equivalent of a 3.70 gear... I'm running 28.8 and 3.27's. I'm more like a G8 right now proportionately speaking.

The problem with these cars isn't transfer, its front strut extension. the front springs are so squat, that the cars wont lift the front at all to help traction. (The copo cars use a 16" long spring, to put it in perspective)

I'm getting a set of the copo struts when tax time hits, if I still have the car

John.
Yes I was comparing, and yes you're right about the 370-I forgot. We are different in other ways too.
I guess at a first glance seeing that your 60 & 1/8 was so good, 110s didnt make any sense.

Just spent over an hour looking back thru my runs prior to gears.
I had a nice three run group at 1400 DA.
All were 12.41ish at 113.7s
All 1.9 60s
All 89.6ish mph

Your run still kicks all the above except end mpg.

I found some 110.7 runs-they were for 12.74s

Could also be some timing pulled etc.

A log will tell what's going on

Just trying to help, not criticize.

Yea it's about 3.70 now but when I had the 3.27's it was about 3.50. The concept should be the same tho. Locking the converter will always give more mph Bc you are eliminating slip. Gearing and tire size might just make the difference less.
Just my .02 tho.
Hopefully your log will show some other high gear issue that can be fixed.

We currently are locking prior to the 1/8 and ur mph is good there. But it is possible that the shift drop with it locked is hurting it some with the taller gearing. Bu it also may be pulling timing in high gear, or need a little fueling tweak but we WILL get it lined out!

Yep, that all makes sense. That's why I was thinking maybe to just play with the lock up points, instead of staying unlocked all the way thru. like instead of locking in 3rd and letting the shift rpms drop, try locking after the 4th gear shift. You will have to try it both ways to see what works best with your tire gear combo. I'm thinking its got to be pulling some timing up top.

I don't think I can get out Sat/Sun, checking. Fri night maybe but it will be dark and GLD might be a skating rink.
