I would say that the install averages about 3 hours. Yes, the front end needs to be removed to take out the headlights. The headlights do NOT have to be baked apart. You'll change the factory LED out with a new RGB LED. The kit comes with a DVD to show you how to do it.

Thank you for the for the quick response. So the ZL1 harness will allow for both the fog lights and the DRLs to be controlled too, right?

Any progress on the android app?

Correct about the DRL harness. When ordering, we need to know that it isn't a full ZL1, just the front end. We build these just a little different for the ZL1-front-end cars.

The android app is progressing. We're working hard to be able to unveil it very shortly.

Not yet...we know of one in the Dallas area. If anyone knows of a shop in Houston that does lighting, I'd be happy to contact them. This isn't a very difficult DIY, but I understand some people would rather have a shop do it. I would say that the average install time is about 3 hours. The included video walks you through it step by step.

Video makes install look relatively simple. Looking forward to giving this a try.

What is the latest on that android app? Really don't want to buy an ipod touch if I can avoid it.

We're getting close on the Android app. The guy that is working on it for us is in college and is in the middle of finals right now. He is planning on finishing it in the next couple of weeks working on it full time. What that really means is that we should be able to get it working perfect by January. You do need to use the app to set up the system and test it. But you could use a borrowed ipod touch (4th gen or later), old de-commissioned iphone (3GS or later), or iPad (3rd gen or ipad2 or later). It basically has to run iOS6 or iOS7. The Android app will support 4.0 or later. We have a lot of current users waiting for the android app to come available.

We're just about to finish an update for the iOS app. We've been holding off on changes for it to allow the Android app to catch up. But there is a new feature that our customers need in order to easily move to their android device. That is programs backup and restore. We're doing final testing right now, and it should be available soon. The iOS app will also support native iOS7 look and feel for iOS7 devices, while maintaining iOS6 compatibility on those devices.

We'll be posting news about this on our facebook and twitter accounts. So be sure to subscribe to those. The links are on our home page in the upper right.

Joe, I am having an impossible time getting that 4th screw out of the heat sink. It looked so simple when you did but I can hardly even to the screw let alone turn it. Any tips?

Got it done but I broke the clear plastic thing. I was able to put it back together. Hope it works. I shined a light through it and the whole halo lit up. I will test in the AM. Wish me luck. Don't want to have to buy a headlight

NightOwl RGB Halo Kit

Hopefully it's ok Kevin - that's the part I struggled with as well - took me and James ages haha!

Now, if only I had the car working so I could show the kit off haha - hopefully early in the new year!
