M6...what RPM are you leaving at with DR's?

Got a set of 18" M/T DRs the other day so now I'm looking to see what RPM M6 guys are leaving at to get some decent 60' times without breaking stuff.

I only have basic bolt-on stuff and about 415 rwhp.

Also, curious about the PSI everyone is running with 18" DRs. Especially for M/T ET Streets.

i'm interested in knowing as well. I don't usually look at the tach when I launch, but ever since I went to 18' Mickeys, I've had trouble launching. It feels like it falls on its face. I'll have to start looking at my rpm's and figure out what works best. BTW, I run my Mickeys at 20 psi. No spinning problems yet cuz I don't know how to launch on them yet.

You should consider getting a Raptor Shift Light. It will let you set the RPM you want to leave at as well as an RPM variance. It uses the light to let you know where you're at. So, say I set it at 3K RPM with a 200 RPM variance the light will start coming on solid at 2.8K and then start blinking at 3.2k. Go under 2.8K and the light goes away. That will you know about what RPM you're leaving at.

Once you leave the light becomes a shift light.

They are a pretty easy install and I bought a cheap iPhone stand, cut it to make a small "L" shape that I put in the side of my dash. I then have some Velcro on that piece to hold the shift light. Nothing is permenately attached.

4000-4500 usually is a good spot, just gonna have to find the right timing between release and the accel pedal movement.

Not sure if this helps, but I launch with Pumpkin at 4800 on a Lingenfelter 2 Step and CTAP M6. Slicks and skinnies though. 1.64 60's.

So launching at the 4400 - 5000 range.....anyone breaking stuff like axles?

That's my next scare is to start hooking and breaking other things like axle or clutch (stock clutch).

recently at the track,
i launched my camaro (boltons, tune,. 420 whp 413 TQ) and i got the MT ET street radials 2 on 18x9.5 rim.. i launched the car using launch control. it sets it at 4500 rpm.. i was able to get a 1.9 60 ft from the launch control..

the track was a 1/8 mile.

I only launch at 3000-3500 and slip the clutch off the line.. 4k+ heats the stock clutch up too quick for me

I'm trying to figure it out as well. I went to the track this Friday and was launching around 3500. I started the tires at 20psi and then lowered them to 18. I ran 8 times and had 7 1.8 60' I think I could have raised the rpm's Higher because I wasn't getting much tire spin and bogged a little at times.

I slip the clutch pretty good. Nice smooth launch, no wheel hop to speak of, no broken parts. Stock clutch will not like it though.
