Yes they look like the same kind of app. Just make sure it's compatible with the adapter you buy.

I have dash command, it works great..

JUST MAKE SURE you get wifi ODB 2 adaptor and not bluetooth if you have an iphone. Bluetooth one will not be compatible unless you jailbreak and unlock some settings..

For iPhone/iPad I have been using iobd2 and this works really well for both monitoring and recording. I have The wifi module and it works well. I have seen the Bluetooth module but haven't tried it myself.

In my opinion the bluetooth module works better i had one on android, nexus 4 but after i switched to iphone the bluetooth one would not work, had to purchase the wifi version.
