Wheels and Tires for the strip

Been racing motorcycles for years but I recently bought my 1LE and I plan on taking it to the road course as well as the drag strip. Anybody got suggestions on where to buy and/or prices for a new set of rear wheels and tires for the drag strip. I heard that you may be able to find wheels as small as 17s. Trying not to break the bank. Any suggestions are appreciated.

17" would be Welds, one of the best options. But not cheap. 18" Corvettte Z06/GS fronts are the cheapest setup.

Expect to spend around $1K. I went a little over that but love my setup.

I have decided to try these wheels - http://factoryreproductions.com/fact...-Black-c89.htm with MT SR 2. These will be drag only and everything I have read says the MTs hook better, we will see.

Thanks a lot that told me pretty much everything I needed. I think I may have found some on ebay but I'm going to shop around though. These will be strictly drag wheels so I don't need anything special.

What diameter are you going with? I was going to do 18s. My buddy just said he's going with 20s but I'm trying to keep the price down as much as possible. This racing is getting expensive between my motorcycle and the camaro.

Watch the weight, the heavier the wheels and tires are the easier stuff starts breaking. Especially on cars with a rear thats a little on the weak side from the start.

Great point. While we think 1LEs have these lightweight wheels, the rear setup is just about the same weight as the non 1LE SS rear setup. Besides putting less strain on the drive train lighter wheels/tires = faster car. My setup is 7.5 pounds lighter per wheel than the stock 1LE rear setup. The CAI + 18" DR setup was worth over .4 seconds in the quarter mile. I think I could have gone faster but then I added LTs and dropped another .5 seconds.
