I was thinking stock block. If we start looking at the catalogs things get fun fast. It is a good time to be a motor head. Even better than back in the day.

Hey thanks for offer. I think shes bs'n though, on any given day she likes the new vette(who doesnt), the challenger, and now the new gen mustang.

ive gone against a lot of new 5.0 stangs and we seem dead even...just my input making mods is what its all about for me....who can put together the best package and your always gunna have the one faster than the other ...the manufacturers do that to compete with eachother at least thats how i see it

My stock 2010 SS has never been beaten by a stock GT. No matter what year it is. 2010 up to 2014. I do not know what drag strip you all go to but it has never happened in Fayetteville N.C. Bring your GT (Stock) and we'll see and make a video.

The new 5.0's are lighter, have closer transmission gearing, and similar power.

From a previous post I made:

DA was 3323

I drove both my car (SS) and the wife's car (5.0) tonight within 15 minutes of each other. Say what you want but with the same driver, power shifting both cars, same track, same 60'... the 5.0 was simply faster and would have run even better had it not spun through half of second gear and the first part of third gear.

SS - 13.3 @ 108 2.0 60'
- CAI
- Flowmaster Hush Power Mufflers
- VMAX Throttle Body
- Factory High Octane Tune (Fuse Pull)

5.0 - 13.1 @ 109 2.0 60'
- K&N drop in air filter
- Flowmaster American Thunder Mufflers

Corrected for altitude the times would have been:

SS - 12.7 @ 112
5.0 - 12.5 @ 113

The point I am making is in an actual race a 5.0 has never beaten my SS. Once you actually get in a race side by side, things happen.

Do you have a ZL1 or SS?

Stock for stock I was right there, I did go 13.15. But I had SS friends who went slower like 13.4's who got beat.

Stock for stock, drivers race. Equal drivers 5.0 FTW. Physics. Get over it.

It is still possible to like and enjoy your slower SS. And if you regularly beat stock 5.0s with your stock SS, respect. You can drive. If you ran into my friend with his pure stock 5.0 GT auto you would lose. 12.4@114 uncorrected. The real ET on a good DA night. He spent 100+ runs perfecting his launch coming down from starting at 13.1. And he can drive, he will tree you if you are sleepy. That being said most coyote stock autos I see at Atco are running right around 13.1+- depending on the DA. 6Ms are all over the map. Autos FTW.

Had I seen with my own eyes a stock GT auto crank off a 12.4@114 I would have been seriously tempted to go Blue Oval. I had an SS ordered and canceled it in 2009 cuz it was so heavy.

I think of the 30 or so cars I've owned there were 6 Fords but 20 GM's

I have driven my friends GT several times at the track. At Atco, the end of the track is a bit rough, especially in the left lane. Even with my 1LE's stiffer suspension, it eats up the track at the rough end. In his car I thought he had a flat. There was a lot of rumbling and bumping. But then back in the lanes he was puzzled as his tire pressures were fine. Then when I drove it after that it felt the same way. It was that the GT did not handle the bumps very well at 116+ mph. I get more of a feeling of quality in the Camaro. I think the IRS and much stiffer chassis gives you more of a sense of confidence in the car. Even though his car is faster I prefer mine. I want one of each. But if I could only have one it will be the SS.

The first time I drove his car in the quarter, I ran 12.2 to his 11.9 LOL. Just to keep it fair, he could not break out of the 13s in my car, where I was running 12.4s that night The manual is a challenge. But it could be that he did not want to break my car and he was taking it easy. Either way, we were both faster in our own car.

I live where the air is very good so 12.4-12.7 is normal for stock 5.0s with a driver mod. Just depends on air. Simple mods like tune and cat deletes with dr's they are 11's.. I think the 1le and auto GT are the two most fun cars at the moment and owning both would be very cool. They are totally diff and you can't go wrong with either one.

If I was closer I'd take you up on that offer as many times as you wanted lol

Iv had both at the same time and it's awesome. The Camaro is definitely the better cruiser and inspires more confidence. The mustang was for when I wanted to race lol... I loved each for different reasons, but the Mustang was the faster of the two no doubt.
