New member introduction

Hi everyone.

My name is Fernando and I got this red hot 1LE about 3 weeks ago and I'm LOVING it so far. Question, should I wait until I break it in before I get an aftermarket exhaust? Any other 1LE owners in the Glendale area?

Here's a picture of my precious haha

Congrats on the new car! You will find lots of opinions on how to break in the car, and what to do or not do. I personally belong to the "break it in like you stole it" tribe.

Congrats. She's a beauty. I believe you are the first member on here with a Red Hot 1LE without the RS package. Yours looks badass. Welcome to the site.

He's asking when to upgrade the exhaust.

You have six years before emissions in CA. Long tube headers require a tune. A tune voids your warranty. Your decision depends on your risk profile and hassle tolerance meter.

Me?

Risk : low
Hassle : low

In other words:

Tune : stock
Exhaust : short/stock. May go short tube headers. Operative here is that I may.

Many people here don't believe the break in. I do. Call me chicken. Sure. Chevy pre-runs the engines so the rings are seated before we take ownership but the rear end and all the moving bits and pieces? Good luck. Those aren't pre-exercised before hand (as far as I understand).

I followed my guide for 1,500 longggggg miles and changed the oil at 10k. Some others here who also followed the guide changed their differential fluid and oils at 1k. The car feels at 10k looser than ever.
