I can see both sides of reasoning as well. Makes this all the more interesting. Price does play a part as well as exclusivity but if that's the case, is there a category for perhaps super performance? It doesn't seem like supercar goes hand in hand with performance although there are some incredible machines in that category being marketed. Has the definition of supercar maybe changed over time as well?
Then again, I might be just reading too much into it. It doesn't change my sentiment of getting a Z06, just interested. |

it depends if we're talking cars that are status symbols based on exclusivity and price
or cars that perform. the ZO6 will perform with anything. |

Super car means performance, not price and status?! Wtf does status and price have to do with anything, if it competes on par with imports that have the status then it deserves to be called a Super Car. PERIOD

Its not the price and status per-se, but the underlying reasons for why those cars are very expensive & highly revered. They are low volume, practically hand built, and have nearly luxury car level interior appointments. That adds a premium price, and most people appreciate the extra effort that goes into building cars that way. It might not be worth it to you, its not really worth it to me (there's plenty of things I'd do with half a million dollars before I head to an exotic dealership) but that is what separates a 'fast car' from a 'super car'.

check the TRUE definition of super car via google very very limited qty and on a different par all together. a GT-R and 911 aren't super cars either. |

I don't think so. Unfortunately, exclusivity and status DO play into the term supercar. The best thing you could say about the new Z06 is that it has supercar performance for everyman price. Like the guy above already posted "If I can afford it, it ain't a supercar." |

No. People should really learn the true meaning of "super car".

As stated before, a super-car is a combination of performance and exclusivity. Not only do you have to be able to afford a super-car, you have to be deemed worthy of owning a super-car. Just walking in with a checkbook won't get you behind the wheel of a P1, but will get you a Corvette, GTR, or 911. For my money, I would take the Corvette and let the owner of the super car gloat to himself about how exclusive he is as he watched my taillights walk away. Then again, I spent more money to get a car with fewer creature comforts, which still confuses my wife.

Supercar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For other uses, see Supercar (disambiguation). Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition - the fastest road legal production car reaching 431 km/h Pagani Zonda Porsche 918 Spyder Koenigsegg Agera R A supercar is a very expensive and fast sports car.[1][2] Supercars are marketed by automakers as unusual and include limited production specials from an "elite" automaker, standard-looking cars modified for power and performance, as well as models that appeal to enthusiasts from smaller manufacturers.[3] "Supercar" is also a label custom car retrofitters reserve for their showcase, one-of-a-kind project vehicles; typically these are very extensively modified collectible muscle cars, sports cars or grand touring automobiles updated to the very latest "streetable" racing technology Even though it has the performance and looks but its not a exclusive limited production vehicle so by the very definition i would say no.
