Question:

Why are these mounted off to the side (typically driver's side)? I'm assuming it has to do with aligning with the frame rails, but does the eccentric loading of the hook cause any problems when getting towed (like out of a bar ditch on a snowy day)?

We install then off to one side or the other, because they are not supposed to protrude past the most forward part of the bumper (the center). You can install it on either side. Personally, the passenger side makes the most sense to me as that will make for a straighter angle when being pulled behind someone. (The tow truck should stick to the right side of the lane and the car being towed should stick to the left side of the lane, so the person being towed can see around the truck pulling.)

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler

Mine is on the passenger side. It all personal preference.

Even without being lowered it's very difficult to tow these cars without damaging the bumpers. It's possible, but it involves strategically placing the chains and the use of wood blocks (spacers).

It's definitely a good idea. It's quite tough to attach to these cars otherwise. Even tougher if you are buried in snow!

Yes, intercooler clearance. If AGP intercooler is too wide I might have to try mine somewhere else. Is there a plan B on where to install the hook?

Jordan, Tyler,

Can you include a copy of said instructions with my tow hook? It isn't expected to ship out until tomorrow or Thursday (still at the powdercoater).

Much appreciated!!

BTW, huge to JDP on this. Tyler really hooked me up. Can't wait to get this installed on my car!

Well it's nice to have the hook on the passenger side. That way in theory if you're being towed/pulled out, you can see around the tow truck towing you..
