10 bolt Rear end went out? Rebuild it or replace it

My stock 10 bolt 7.5 rear end went out and was wondering if it's worth it replacing the differential Posi and the gears, or just replace the rear end with something stronger? What are some options?thanks!

I think Strange has a replacement. Check Camaro Performers for a Black Betty repair done on this subject.

Depends on what youre doing with the car. If you race it or have power adders then get a 12 bolt or 9 inch . If its just a driver with less then 400 rwhp then find a pull out at a junk yard or over on ls1tech

It's daily diver and also has more than a couple add on's! But also like going to the track!

So I'm just guessing the stock gm 10 bolt 7.5 can only handle up to about 400 to rear wheels? Can it not be built up to handle more?

Say I wanna put some 373 gears with a better posi in the 10 bolt 7.5. Is it going to be worth the $700 bucks?

Other question is if I got a ford 9" rear end or 12 bolt its not going to be the same set up as the 10 bolt. Would have to weld up the same set up as the stock 10 bolt?

Thanks for the help, appreciate it!!

Plenty of sponsors on ls1tech that sell bolt in rear ends for under $2k. Check out the for sale section over there. I got my 9 inch from brutespeed. I went all out on mine. No sence in putting money in a 10bolt. There is no way to build it to be strong, just a waste of money

^^^What he said put the $700 toward a bolt in 9" or 12 bolt and not have to do it again. Through various cars and trucks I have probably sent 10-15 ten bolts to the scrap yard. I use to go pick up good used ones at the junk yard, but that's not even worth it when they will just go in another 6 months or so.

Most all of the ten bolts I had came apart with less than 400hp. I do however have 2 still alive, one in a bolt on DD 4th gen with street tires and the other that has some how lived through a 600hp sbc S-10 with drag radials .

Don't overlook an S60. Holds more than enough power for a few bolt ons and can take plenty of track abuse. Cheaper than a 9 too. Most guys runnin 9's have them for conversation purposes and rarely use them to their full potential.
