Disable AFM?
So I was looking to disable the AFM and didn't want to tune the car and lose my warranty. I looked into the disabler but a friend mentioned this show http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QLm1oePkZ0c (not sure if the link works as I'm on my phone) it's all girls garage working on a camaro and they disable the AFM. Has anyone tried this yet? Looking to get rid of that and possibly not lose warranty and hey maybe save some money.

Those girls cracked the motor open, pretty sure they lost their warranty....They also required a tune with the supercharger.
Just get you a range V8 afm disable device about $199. It was the best money i had ever spent on mine, and you can remove it anytime you want. I resold mine after I got my tune a year later. Got most of my money back. |

Yeah, the Range AFM Delete Module is what you should be looking at.

I'm looking to buy one also until my warranty is up... Looks like I'll have to buy new... Searched for anyone selling first.

I'd keep watching the sale section of he site. I see them come up for sale pretty often. As soon as I have GPI tune my ride mine will be up for sale.
The range works great and you'll Love the new feel when you do get one if your dead set on not tuning but my .02 is you'll get more from the tune than the range. |

I just placed a range in my SS CAMARO. What a difference. It's the car I wanted it to be when I bought it.

All it does is, keep your car from going into AFM. It's not like it adds HP or driveability.

It makes a extremely noticable diff, preventing the car from going into 4cyl when you want to switch lanes n such.. It was night n day. Not too mention the horrible farting/vibrating it does when you have aftermarket exhaust, so thankful for range module! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Range module is the best thing that happened to my 2SS/RS!
No nasty noises. It sounds like a V8 ALL the time. I can pass people on the highway without the lag, my last car was turbocharged and i was missing that confidence - now, it's GO BABY, GO!

I was missing my previous turbo also :( Call me crazy, but after 4 months of having V8 module, I've noticed better mileage! I removed range for a few weeks to be sure & boom I'm getting less miles. Going to put it back in now as a matter of fact

had my range in mine for about three months and over the week end I took it out for the heck of it and quickly reminded me why I got it in the first place. I hate that hesitation on acceleration I would sometimes get, almost like the car was confused or something then would shift hard. with the range that never happens. among other small things that I have noticed. every once in a while I get some strange messages on the DIC but nothing major. unplug it for a short drive cycle every once in a while and it seems to work great.

I have a Solo Mach XC cat back and when the AFM/DOD comes on it is a very odd and un-V8 sound. I kind of thought I could get used to it, but after just a few days I had enough. I had never heard it with the stock exhaust and honestly didn't know my Camaro had the AFM/DOD until I changed the exhaust. I bought a used Range here on Camaro 5 and it is absolutely amazing how much better the car sounds and feels. Losing the nasty "bwuuuh uh uh uh" AFM/DOD sound definitely makes me think the car is running better! I'm gonna say at least 20 hp.
BTW, my Range was an older model and worked perfect on my 2013 but I went ahead and had it updated just in case. Range customer service was awesome, I highly recommend them and would buy again in a heartbeat! |

How did you get it updated? You didn't buy it from range directly... What was the process?

I contacted Range via email and told them my story. Honestly, I had seen some discussions on Camaro 5 about their customer service and was wondering how they would react. They had me ship it to Fort Collins, Colorado along with a paid return shipping label. Got it back about a week later.
When you see how well the Range works combined with that level of customer service, you can't go wrong buying one. I was lucky to get a used one from a guy on here that sold his Camaro, but knowing what I know now I would have ordered a new one before the car was even delivered. For L99 owners that don't plan on getting a tune, it should be the first thing you buy. |
