LFX engine questions

So Ive been trying to find this for quite a while, and couldnt come around to it. I will be adding IPS motorsports twin turbo kit to my 2014 V6 camaro. The kit will put me around 460-470 on the flywheel. I'm just skepticle and doubting that my stock internals and transmission will be able to handle this power increase. Anyone wanna fill me in on the details of the max torque/horsepower limit my transmission will hold and such.

I would ask that question of IPS Motorsports, if I were you.

GretchenGotGrowl's twin turbo build had a few failure points
-HPFP couldn't supply enough fuel past about 600hp flywheel (~550whp?)
-Transmission was wearing heavily but had not grenaded
-Blew stock piston? on a drag run.

I should hope he could comment soon. Check out his build thread - that's easier. Its in the V6 FI section.

I thought the IPS TT kit put out ~460 to the wheels?

Yes, GretchenGotGrowl is a custom build. But it's still twin turbo. You were wondering about the failure points of the engine or transmission.

My point being the kit should be perfectly fine.

Desertion is right, the IPS kit makes about about 460 RWHP; perhaps you are confusing it with the IPF supercharger.

Like DSX_Camaro is saying, I've pushed mine well beyond what the IPS kit does if you don't modify it (run more boost). If you have an automatic transmission I would suggest you put in an aftermarket transmission cooler. If you have a manual then you should expect to go through clutches a lot faster than normal. Sycraft has an aftermarket clutch that is working well for him.

As far as engine internals, I don't think you will have any issues at that power level if you buy good gas.

What transmission cooler would you recommend? Probably should be looking at that before I go higher in boost.

I just picked up one at an auto parts store. They are cheap insurance.

I was thinking of the same thing before I put the IPF S/C kit on mine.

I'd love to got form this TT kit but being in Cali I'm not sure I could pass smog?

From my understanding they replace the cats with the snails so that right there means fail on smog. unless you build a custom exhaust and house the cats somewhere else.

Perhaps install smog cut outs!

Switch on = pass smog (bypass through the cats)
Switch off = TT power! (bypass the cats)
