Since you're going to be changing to the full Z/28 aero, have you considered running your current setup (tires and suspension, etc.) with the aero kit, to see if it makes a tangible difference? We know it's part of the reason the Z/28 works as a package, but I'd be interested to see if the aero bits make a noticeable difference by themselves.

I do not intend to use up RS-3 tires at the track, so it might be hard to try that out. I will definitely test the differences of tires (R-S3, Trofeo R, MPSC 2, NT01), though!

Thank you! The idea is to actually save a lot of $$$ ($1600 v.s. $2300 a set); we'll see if I will need this much in one season

Nice...

Gonna love to see how the Sport Cups stack up against the NT01's...And seein how the car does as you've done a lot to it.

We never quite racing around here...had my first track day two weeks ago...all the local racetracks ( T hill, Laguna Seca, Sonoma Raceway) are open for busness

I'd seriously consider moving to NoCal, if the school system was as good as what we have here. It would be easy, too, since my employer is head-quartered in there.

Dropspeed just told me that the black caps I needed for the Z/28 wheels are the same as optional black wheels' caps on Volt for $4.50 each. I already paid a cool $92 a set for my caps, but now you guys know better

MPSC 2 tires are now on OEM Z/28 wheels. Now all I need to do is to wait for remaining aero parts. Once they're installed, I'll be ready for the season!

The first days at ORP are 20/21 April, open track day format. If anyone else is also interested, I could get you in as my guest to the club for only $150!

Now, all I need to do is to swap back to race pads, install the ducting hoses back, and put the gauges on; nothing hard. I should mention, though, it will be my first time installing a gauge.

I only got the oil pan baffling installed by a shop, and I regretted it. Engine mount bolts were way over-torqued, some of the wheel well plastic retainers were missing, so were two 10mm bolts holding coolant lines around the pan, and one of the oil pan bolts was not torqued enough, leaking tiny bit of oil. All this after just one job! When I told them about missing bolts in hopes that they could find them, they said the car was already missing them (it was not, I looked around the pan before leaving the car with them since I almost did the work myself; I wish I had). I'm sure the pros are much more experienced than me, but they care so little about your car, in the end, I usually end up doing a cleaner job :(
That's also why I try to do my own work when ever possible. Great job on the build.

Me, too! There are track days on 4/13 and 4/20. Here is hoping I can source all the missing aero parts (still waiting on delivery of Z/28 aero package) and get them installed by my friendly neighborhood collision shop

Enjoying the thread, the detailed build list is really helpful, Thanks! Intestested to see what you do with the harness since I've been trying to decide what I should do. I've been considering this Harness Bar, its suppose to be easy in and out. Anyway, I was wondering what your thoughts on the Goodyear F1's were. I just changed my first set and got 7k miles, and roughly 8 hours of track time and a visit to the drag strip out of them. I am a, lets say beginner intermediate level and was kinda wondering what I could expect with these tires as hopefully my ability improves. I like them so far other not being able to rotate. Thanks BTW, first track day in 11 days!! But whos counting?

I have not yet updated the build thread, but I've actually also ordered the Recaro OEM driver seat. I do have the Schroth 4-point ASM, and I'll try and see if they all work before I start destroying the practicality fo my car : )

G:2s were good, but I think I overcooked them during my track day where I also stress-tested the oil cooler. It still grips well when warm, but it just doesn't feel like it warms up as fast anymore. In contrast, RS-3s held up better so far, but my best lap times were very similar.

I'll be installing a supercharger (Rotrex) on my '13 Miata over the weekend: 250 whp / 2500 lbs vs. 417 whp / 3800 lbs; I can't wait to see how they will fare against each other : )

Damn X25, I just read the whole thread in one sitting. Amazing. I wish I had your skills both inside the car and working on the car...amazing work, I hope you get to enjoy the fruits of all your labor and I hope you continue to share with the community.

You mention that buying the Z/28 wheels was something which required a" brute-force algorithm", I'm assuming this means the sale of the wheels is somehow VIN restricted? Did you just guess at a VIN? And if you don't mind my asking, how much are a set of Z/28 wheels?

Once you get some track time on the new meats, please let us all know how the various racing tires you are running compare.

Great stuff...
