New ZL1 owner "by accident"

Thanks to all who post here and the great information and opinions that go with it. Because all the available information gathered here I decided to keep and repair the 2012 ZL1 I bought from auction for parts. Previous to the day I bought it I knew nothing about these cars. I have always been an old school camaro/nova/chevelle guy. The car had been deemed a total loss with a salvage title when I purchased it from an online auction. I originally just wanted the drive train but once it arrived from PA I quickly became attached. The repairs were pretty straight forward and after driving it last week I couldn't be happier, INCREDIBLE machine with only 9k miles.

I hope to learn more about it as time passes but I did identify A few performance mods such as roto-fab intake, ported TB and Aeroforce Technology gauge. What of the chances of someone here on the board knowing of the cars background? THAT would be cool!

Wow for a total loss it doesn't look to bad, I work for Farmers Insurance so I've seen some horrible total losses as I'm sure you have.

Looks like most of the body and as you mentioned drivetrain were good, how was the engine? Were you able to keep the stock LSA motor and just fix some parts of it?

Glad to hear your enjoying it!

If you send me the vin I can at least tell you where it was originally purchased and if any warranty work was done.

I think I got lucky with the motor and trans. The majorty of the hit was to the cradle/subframe which was shoved back and as a result sheared the motor mounts and trans mount. I didnt take the motor apart. So far seems to run/shift fine.

I should have a few more pics at the shop, I'll take a look tomorrow.

My biggest challange right now is California smog/registration. I picked up an OEM cai and HP tuners to try and figure out if it has a stock tune. Hopefully will know more this weekend. The oem tune thing is new to me so it might take a bit. I do have a little time on BS3/Fast and Holley aftermarket boxes.
